What you will do
The Computer Operator position at Utica Mutual is an excellent opportunity for individuals early in their career to learn and grow within our technology team. This role involves overseeing mainframe systems during the third shift, managing batch jobs including printer batch jobs, and ensuring smooth operations of our corporate data center. If you are keen to apply your analytical skills, solve problems effectively, and have a basic understanding of computer operations, we would be eager to welcome you aboard.
Responsibilities:
Monitor and manage batch jobs for mainframe systems, ensuring efficient processing. Handle printer batch jobs, overseeing accurate printing and timely delivery. Perform essential troubleshooting for mainframe systems and related hardware, applying problem-solving skills to resolve issues promptly. Assist in logging machine downtime and rerun times, contributing to overall system performance evaluation. Help set up job streams, specifying tasks for the third shift. Maintain the integrity of the data center environment, guaranteeing timely and effective computer backups and restorations. Participate in the testing and debugging of new systems and programs to meet client requirements. Assist in training new employees, offering guidance and addressing queries related to computer operations.What Will you need:
Basic Requirements:
High School diploma or equivalent. Fundamental understanding of computer operations and mainframe systems. Flexibility to work the third shift. Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities. Good written and verbal communication skills in English. Capacity to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.Preferred Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field. Previous experience in a computer operator role, preferably in a data center environment. Basic knowledge of z/OS Mainframe Administration/Operation. Friendly, service-oriented, and maintains a high level of professionalism. Ability to work proactively with minimal supervision.Salary:$44,900 - $67,300
The final salary to be paid and position within the internal salary range is reflective of the employee’s work experience, their geographic location, education, certification(s), scope and responsibilities in the role, and additional qualifications.
