Position SummaryThis position will have field construction accountability for the successful execution of Power Grid Operations (PGO) construction, maintenance, and restoration activities. The position will report to the Manager of Construction Management who will provide general guidance and oversight. This position will have responsibility for construction management during all phases of moderately complex projects. Manage the execution of PGO work plan in accordance with the appropriate Scope and Method of payment while maintaining financial stewardship. Ensure the efficient utilization of contractor resources to meet the work plan. This position works to ensure customer and company project goals are met while working with both internal and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities
This position will serve as the single point of contact for all PGO contractors. This could include all phases of the project lifecycle from development through construction activities to assure the project is built per Duke Energy’s specifications and standards.
Assisting the project team with managing, enforcing or ensuring:
Project costs
Schedule adherence to achieve project in-service dates
Compliance with permitting requirements
Adherence to safe work practices
Coordination of material as needed
Adherence to safe work practices
Public safety is maintained, and appropriate security is utilized at project sites
Commissioning of facilities through the placement of assets in service.
Required/Basic Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management or relevant field experience and three (3) plus years' required work experience that must be in utility construction, OR
Associate’s degree in engineering technology, construction management, or relevant field and five (5) plus years' required work experience that must be in utility construction, OR
High school diploma/GED and seven (7) plus years of utility construction/maintenance experience.

Experienced in various roles and/or jurisdictions within PGO
Knowledgeable of crane/lifting operations and associated rigging
Knowledgeable of DOT work zone compliance

Demonstrated knowledge and skills with various internal tools and software applications - (Maximo, Plantview, Construction Audit Tool, iTOA, Duke Energy GIS system, Planed Outage Portal(D), and Duke Energy ADMS tool (Distribution)

The Sr. Construction Mangers are the primary POC for emergent situations for the contractor for restoration activities
Provides feedback to Project Management, the Resource management schedulers and planners on contractor work progress. This includes any impacts from emergent work that will impact the construction completion of a project by the target finish dates
Helps to resolve disputes between external parties and the Duke Energy contractors.
Provide construction related technical guidance during the project life cycle, including the site scoping reviews and constructability reviews.
Assist the project team with construction outage sequence plan and resource strategy during bids and pricing portal events.
Provide input during the change order review process by validating the need and cost estimate for requested changes. (Transmission)
Work with the Outage Coordination Team and Project Team to identify the proper construction/clearance sequence plans. Align all construction activities to meet outage and project schedules. (Transmission)
Coordinate with Work Management Planner on the Submission of Clearances and Hot Line tags (iTOA's) in support of the integrated construction/clearance sequence plans and the Independent Verification Process. (Transmission)
Support/attend pre-construction meetings.
Support FAC-OO8 walkdowns. (Transmission)
Actively participate in all required project construction meetings supporting a safe and efficient project execution. (Transmission)
Coordinate with Engineering to facilitate required changes or deviations from the original project scope/design
Ensure Environmental/Erosion control compliance for assigned projects.
Assist the Project Manager in coordinating with various business units within Duke Energy, including Generation, and other external customers/others to obtain agreement for work activities that are performed as appropriately identified.
Coordinate activities associated with pre-commissioning and commissioning. Ensuring proper documentation is completed. Provide periodic updates on commissioning status and progress.
Support contractor with Switching &Tagging/Work Authorization knowledge as needed
Assist with Contractor onboarding
Perform H&S observations as required

Line Specific
Versed in various types of pole framing, switch assembly, guying, and all related material application. Versed and experienced in the installation/removal of transmission and distribution conductors, sag/tensioning, bundled spacer placement, and clipping in/splicing.
Ability to work in self-directed manner and lead others to achieve high-quality and efficient results
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build cooperative working relationships across the PGO organization and departmental boundaries
Ensure notification and timely documentation of incidents according to the Event Reporting Criteria (Preliminary Incident Report (PIR), Apparent Cause Analysis (ACA), Initial Event Notification (IEN), Prompt Investigation Response Team (PIRT), etc. including follow up.
Working ConditionsWilling to work in adverse conditions such as wet, swampy, isolated locations; cold and hot weather; and emergency conditions, i.e. storm restoration
Willing to travel the geographic territories of Duke Energy as projects are system wide
This positions routinely required to work extended work schedules in support of work activities scheduled at night, weekends, and holidays
