Senior Consultant, Transit and Rail Engineering
Job Summary WSP is initiating a search for an adept and technically driven Professional **Senior Transit and Rail Engineering team member** for our **WSP USA Inc. Houston office** . Provide subject matter expertise to ensure fleet maintenance facility and zero emissions transition projects and programs are delivered with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards for design, safety, sustainability, structural integrity, and functionality. Your Impact + Provide proactive and strategic process and project leadership for the design of operation and maintenance facilities. This may be for transit, public works, utility, military, DOT or aviation support facilities. + Support in complex and large-scale fleet maintenance facility projects ensuring contributors know what they are required to do and by when, preparing and overseeing relevant project budgets, monitoring internal and external events, tracking timelines, hours and expenses, ensuring satisfactory performance and profitability. + Support the overall long-term strategy, growth and pipeline development of fleet maintenance facility work for WSP (planning, design, strategic consulting and program/construction management). + Support discipline meetings and continuing educational opportunities, providing recommendations that foster innovation, development and quality project delivery. + Provide discipline leadership to multi-disciplinary project teams and contribute to providing high level strategic advice to clients. + Provide quality control on projects. + Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures. + Remain current in latest information for fleet maintenance facility design. + Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs. + Perform industrial design activities for shop maintenance projects varying from new structures to rehabilitating existing facilities and yards. + Projects will typically include service tracks/bays, paint & body, support shops, parts storage, vehicle wash and fuel & sand system design elements. + Conduct programming, master planning, conceptual design, shop equipment selection/layout/specification, inter-discipline design coordination and construction administration support. + Determining size and configuration of operations and maintenance facilities; including shop, office, welfare and exterior areas. This may be for transit, public works, utility, military, DOT or aviation support facilities. + Layout of maintenance support shops and associated industrial equipment. + Coordinating utility and structural requirements of industrial maintenance equipment. + Writing and reviewing equipment specifications and submittals to meet client operational needs. + Ability to travel for project work. Who You Are **Required Qualifications** + Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, or closely related discipline. + 5 to 7 years of relevant post education experience in engineering and prior transit and rail experience. + Advanced proficiency with fleet maintenance facility principles, practices, processes, standard of care, and the application to permitting and project work-related issues. + Demonstrated experience in fleet maintenance facility projects delivered by means of various forms of project deliver (design-bid-build, design/build, CMAR, progressive design/build) + Extensive advance proficiency with building and infrastructure design. + Understanding of zero-emissions vehicle infrastructure requirements and design principles and knowledge of how they impact fleet operations and sites. + Advance knowledge of relevant construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements, and the business impact on the organization. + Demonstrated ability with establishing, implementing, and managing multiple larger-scale programs, documents and projects. + Excellent leadership and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to effectively, persuasively and tactfully interact with employees at all levels of the organization. + Strategic lateral thinking and strong analytical skills with attention to detail and prioritization of responsibilities in a pressure work environment. + Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including management, clients, and company-wide staff, including those with whom no formal hierarchical relationship exists. + Strong ability to quickly adapt to change and demonstrate flexibility to a variety of schedules and hours to meet business needs. + Advanced knowledge and proficiency with office automation, discipline-specific design software (i.e. MicroStation, AutoCAD, REVIT, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite), technology, math principles, graphics, spreadsheets and tools used in the corporate environment. + Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies. **Preferred Qualifications** + Master’s Degree in Engineering. + Essential Professional Licensure/Certification. + Experience managing small to mid-size projects. + 40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER) (29 CFR 1910.120) preferred. + Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training desired. \#LI-AC1 **About WSP** WSP USA is the U.S. operating company of WSP, one of the world's leading engineering and professional services firms.
