Senior Consultant - Biodiversity, Onshore Renewables & Infrastructure

ERM, the worlds largest pure play sustainability consultancy, is seeking a talented Biodiversity Senior Consultant, to help support our growing workload and considerable growth ambitions within the Renewable Energy space. The role presents the opportunity to work as part of an experienced and supportive UK ecology team on a range of large infrastructure projects across sectors and geographies. You’ll primarily be undertaking ecological impact assessment for planning applications including Nationally Significant Infrastructure projects, with a focus on renewables.

You must be based within regular travel distance of our Manchester, York, Cardiff or Pembroke offices, or be willing to relocate. Site visits will be required and during the survey season this could be 60% of the time. Part time work requests are welcomed. Please ensure that driving licence status and any intention to relocate is confirmed clearly in your CV/application.

The Role

Delivering service excellence on onshore and offshore renewables and energy infrastructure projects in the UK and internationallyProject delivery including H&S, financial and resource management on medium to large-scale projectsDelivering technical reports on time, on budget and to high standards, including Preliminary Ecological Appraisal, Ecological Impact Assessment, Habitats Regulation Appraisal, Biodiversity Metric Assessment, and mitigation licence applicationsOverseeing the design, co-ordination and scheduling of ecological and ornithological surveys in accordance with current guidance, good practice and professional standardsEngaging with, and providing technical advice to, project managers, stakeholders and clientsHelp with the preparation of bids and undertaking business development with ERM’s existing Key Clients and High Growth, High Value clientsMentoring of less experienced team members

About you

Degree qualified or equivalent in ecology/zoology or a related fieldExperienced ecological impact assessment practitionerComfortable in all aspects of both desk and field elements of the role – including collecting digital dataA competent botanist, experienced in leading UK Habitat Survey and protected species surveysThorough understanding of legislation and best practice in all aspects of EcIAMembership of a professional body (e.g. CIEEM) or willingness to applyFull driving licence which allows you to drive in the UK
