JOB SUMMARY The Senior Control Systems Engineer is responsible for leading the design, integration, and optimization of electrical control systems for conveyors, robotics, and other automated industrial systems. This role involves overseeing complex projects, mentoring junior engineers, and ensuring adherence to industry standards and best practices. JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES + Lead the authoring and editing of PLC, robot, and other controls programming for standard products and custom equipment to achieve desired results. + Collaborate closely with project managers and customers from quote preparation to project runoff, ensuring clear communication and alignment of project goals. + Oversee and guide multi-disciplined teams to develop comprehensive integrated solutions. + Lead design approval processes and conduct thorough risk assessments. + Develop and refine application processes to deliver optimal results. + Supervise installation and start-up activities, ensuring smooth execution and adherence to project timelines. + Perform advanced engineering analyses and calculations to size system components and equipment in compliance with client specifications and industry standards. + Prepare and review customer documentation, including operations and maintenance manuals, ensuring accuracy and clarity. + Document and validate the sequence of operation for designed systems, as required. + Recommend and implement new technologies to address technical challenges and improve system performance. + Stay current with emerging technologies and trends related to automated systems, and apply this knowledge to enhance project outcomes. + Continue developing a broad base of engineering skills to support overall organizational growth and innovation. + Travel to customer and supplier locations as necessary to support project needs and foster strong relationships. + Provide expert support to Controls Technicians with programming, process, and troubleshooting needs. + Deliver comprehensive customer training both at Adaptec Solutions and on-site at customer facilities. + Adhere to and promote company standards and processes. + Perform other duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and a proactive approach to problem-solving. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE + B.S. or M.S. Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology field, or equivalent experience required. + 7+ years of experience designing and building control systems (PLC, HMI, VFDs, Panel design, Electrical schematics, electrical equipment layouts, Hardware specs, Peripheral communications, and Network topography) from concept to completion. SKILLS AND CHARACTERISTICS + Programming/Software Requirements: + High-level proficiency in using Rockwell Automation software, including but not limited to Studio 5000, RS Logix 5000, and FactoryTalk View Studio ME. + High-level knowledge and understanding of using the Microsoft Office product suite. + Proficiency in using Autodesk AutoCAD. + Programming Other – Not required, but value-added skills: + Experience with Fanuc Handling Tool, Fanuc ROBOGUIDE. + Other PLC experience, including Siemens, Omron, GE, Automation Direct, etc. + Experience in using SCADA/HMI software such as FactoryTalk View SE, Wonderware, or Ignition. + AutoCAD Electrical. + Structured Programming Languages (C++, Java, .Net, etc.). + Thorough understanding of industrial communication protocols, including but not limited to Ethernet/IP, PROFINET, IO-Link, or Serial. + In-depth knowledge and understanding of UL, NEC, NFPA 70E, and OSHA standards. + Understanding of pneumatic systems. + Energetic “can do” attitude and a willingness to mentor. + Ability to read and interpret electrical and pneumatic schematics. + Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality. + Comfortable working independently and as part of a team, with strong leadership capabilities. + Ability to set and manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines consistently. + Ability to maintain accurate records and data files. + Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly. In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the wage range for this role is$100,000 - 130,000 annually. The hourly rate range provided is a general guideline.
