The Senior Controls Engineer will design control systems and power distribution systems for industrial material

handling solutions. This includes development of specifications, device layout drawings, control and power

schematics, PLC and QNX logic and implementing solutions which deliver exceptional value to our customers.

Will work closely with the overall project team to design systems which exceed the project requirements.

Responsibilities Performs diverse, specialized, and complex work involving significant accountability and decision-making responsibilityReviews customer specifications and scope documentation for quotation and clarificationDesigns system layouts, schematics and control devicesCreates a control sequence of operation document to ensure that the design meets our customer’s expectationsMaintains a progress schedule that meets project milestones for each projectWorks in a team environmentPrepares schematics and specifications for control and panel fabricationProvides documentation and support to the field wiring teamCreates (PLC) Programmable Logic Control programConfigures and implements systems that use QNX operating systemWorks closely with the Software Engineering team to integrate control solutionsPerforms on-site commissioning to implement and validate the system designLeads and directs project work and less skilled associatesWorks typically involves regular process checks or review of the output produced by other engineering team membersProvides guidance/direction to or train junior level personnel for continued staff growth as skills are learnedTravels up to 50% Qualifications

Any combination of training and experience, which would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities, is

qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:

 

Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in electrical/controls engineering or a related engineering field and five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience in professional engineering design and project execution experienceMinimum 7-10 years of related experience is preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements

Requires approximately 50% travelComfortable with AutoCADAttention to detail is a mustExcellent oral and written communication skillsAbility to multi-task while maintaining attention to detail and deadlinesEnergetic, friendly, outgoing, and proactive personalityDemonstrate creative thinkingHave a strong interest in Industrial AutomationBe self-motivatedWilling to learn and grow with the companyHave experience with Allen-Bradley controls/controllers, Schneider and Omron PLC knowledge a plusHave experience using QNX OS is a plusHave experience with various industrial HMI and SCADA systemsAbility to speak Japanese is an advantage
