As a Sr Copywriter in the Illumina Creative Lab, you’ll collaborate deeply with visual designers and subject matter experts to develop compelling campaign messaging and strategies that promote Illumina products and services and elevate the Illumina brand.  

Job Responsibilities

Create compelling stories that translate scientific technologies and products into clearly defined advantages and benefits focused on customer needs 

Collaborate with marketing, R&D, commercial, and Creative Lab partners on product launches  

Shape campaign messaging themes and produce playbooks that clearly articulate campaign goals, expectations, and assets 

Help produce creative briefs and hone messaging based on input from subject matter experts 

Create high-impact materials, including brochures, web pages, print ads, banner ads, social posts, and more, that convey the benefits of Illumina to both research and clinical audiences 

Write attention-grabbing titles and subheads 

Write hero-focused and product-based video scripts that support multiple topics, including customer interviews, how to videos, introductory videos, story videos 

Embrace the Illumina brand and partner with the Brand Strategy team to develop brand-level messages and communications 

Extend brand and omni-channel storytelling through a broader lens across ecosystems, business goals, and platforms  

Ensure adherence to brand verbal and visual guidelines  

Learn the basics of Illumina products and our audiences; know who to go to for more information 

Give and receive feedback 

Occasional travel required 

Job Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience 

5+ years of experience writing for biotechnology, medical, or pharmaceutical industries 

A diverse portfolio of work showcasing multiple project types 

Excellent creative writing and editorial skills and the ability to think strategically 

An interest in Illumina and genomics, and a drive to learn more 

Demonstrated understanding of how to shift writing depending on audience, touchpoint, and channel 

Strong attention to detail 

Effective communication skills  

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment 

Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and iterate quickly  

Strong interpersonal skills: listening, negotiating, and decision-making  

Proven ability to foster strong working relationships with team members and cross-functional partners  

The estimated base salary range for the Senior Copywriter role based in the United States of America is: $80,900 - $121,300. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable base pay range may be updated accordingly. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
