The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications and location. The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.

Description

Liberty Mutual Insurance has an exciting opportunity available for a highly qualified attorney who is either a specialist or highly experienced generalist handling complex legal assignments. As a Home Office Senior Counsel, you will manage the delivery of legal support to Liberty’s US Retail Markets omni channel Distribution & Marketing operations including with the support of technically specialized personnel within the Legal Department.  You will provide legal advice and carry out actions which have an impact upon the rights, privileges and responsibilities of the Company while maintaining high standards of legal and business ethics and professional responsibility.

 

Responsibilities:

Through engagement with US Retail Markets Distribution & Marketing leadership, understand strategies and key imperatives and align legal capabilities and resources to best enable desired business outcomes.  Work collaboratively across Legal Practice Groups to promote and ensure seamless one legal delivery of legal service to USRM Distribution and Marketing partnersEscalate risks and issues appropriately.  Create and foster an inclusive, equitable and high-performing culture based on strong connection and collaboration across the team and with partners in BU Legal and other Legal Practice Groups.Act as strategic, proactive partner and member of the leadership team within USRM Legal and for aligned USRM Distribution leader.  Demonstrates a deep understanding of the business environment, strategy, and legal implications with clear links to our enterprise strategyInfluences and consults on business strategies and decisions to drive better outcomesEducates and/or partners with clients within aligned business on overall legal strategy and priorities.  Brings business context from aligned L2 to the entire USRM Legal team to inform and align legal strategies and priorities with business needs

 

Qualifications Requirements include excellent analytic, legal writing and communication skills, familiarity with corporate operations and SBU objectives and demonstrated ability to interact with Company personnel as well as outside counsel and representatives of other companies and adversaries. Requires expert knowledge of a specialized area of law. Completion of law school with a J.D. or L.L.B. degree and admission to the bar of at least one jurisdiction in the United States required.Management and leadership experience strongly preferred Generally requires at least fifteen years' experience as a practicing attorney.
