Job Description
Position Summary:
Plays a key role in the cost accounting, inventory, accounts receivable, internal control processes and management reporting for Teledyne Judson Technologies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Accounting SupportMaintains Judson accounting ledgers by verifying and posting account transactionsVerifies vendor accounts by reconciling monthly statements and related transactionsReports sales taxes by calculating requirements on paid invoicesPosts Accounts Receivable cash receipts dailyPrepares monthly account reconciliations and issue resolutionReconciles backlog for TJT and resolves issues as neededEnsures that reserves are correctly reflected according to source schedulesProcesses weekly timecards in preparation for labor distribution and payroll processingReflects inventory stock adjustments and cost rolls in MK systemParticipates in annual inventory countsMonth-End ClosingActivities including General Ledger, review of revenue and cost of sales, A/P, A/R, and payrollPrepares month-end accrual journal entriesGenerates Journal Entries and posts to General LedgerProvides regular reporting/variance analysis/issue resolution for standard cost variancesPerforms other analyses and assigned projects as neededSpecial AssignmentsPerforms monthly reconciliations of inventory and cost of sales for standard productsAssists with Corporate surveys and special requestsRegularly utilizes company Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system for tracking and reporting of dataAssists in the generation of estimate to complete and estimate at completion for projectsCompiles actual cost information for projects as needed, and for monthly financial forecasts
Qualifications & Competencies
To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following qualifications and competencies:
Practical understanding of Cost AccountingStrong understanding of GAAPExcellent analytical and organizational skillsHigh attention to detail, ability to organize assignments and multitaskExcellent verbal, written and presentation communication skillsAbility to work both independently and in a team environment with little supervisionAdvanced computer proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel & PowerPoint)Displays exemplary ethics and business conduct and performs work cognizant of safe work practicesEducation and/or Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Economics or related field with five (5) plus years of experience in a financial and/or accounting positionExperience with Government Contract Accounting is desiredExperience with standard cost environment is desired, as well as project accountingCitizenship Requirements
