To support the continued growth of our Advisory Services in our Americas Region, we are currently seeking a Senior Cost Consultant within our Cost & Risk Advisory team. This role can be located in either Toronto, Calgary, Montreal or Ottawa.

You will work within a diverse team providing advice related to the constructability, cost, risks, schedule, procurement, development, and financing of a broad range of infrastructure projects that include transportation, energy, water, telecommunications, science and technology, and mixed-use development – delivered with a growing focus on sustainability, decarbonization, resilience and ESG principals.

•    Collaborate with client authorities, project team members, and relevant parties to understand the scope and impact of projects.

•    Prepare various analysis such as cost estimating, scheduling, risk modelling, means and methods, and constructability assessments of proposed projects.

•    Find opportunities and inefficiencies within a construction project, be able to evaluate different construction options and develop solutions.

•    Develop Life Cycle Cost Analysis and Cost Benefit Analysis of various assets.

•    Outreach with the construction industry to understand sophisticated methods for infrastructure projects such as rail, bridges, tunnels, highways, and buildings.

•    Help lead, mentor, and supervise a growing team.

•    Work independently on products and review output analysis of others.

•    Be a market interfacing consultant and nurture these relationships.

•    Act as the Project lead for various projects.

•    Perform analysis in various construction software e.g. HCSS, Revit, AutoCAD, MicroStation, Primavera, Sage, and others.

•    Develop, CAPEX, OPEX, LCCA and financial modelling, and skilled in presenting complex analysis.

•    Work with a team of engineers and consultants to analyze the impact and cost of labour, material and other resources on various projects.

•    Understand how to read and analyze blueprints digitally and manually. Perform quantity take-offs.

•    Develop high-level and detailed construction cost estimates.

•    Work with clients in activities such as client meetings, presentations, workshops etc.

 

Is this role right for you? 

•    A minimum of 8 years’ professional experience within the Architecture, Engineering or Construction industry.

•    Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Engineering, Construction Management, and or a related filed within the Built Environment. A minor, double major, or advanced degree or equivalent experience in Economics, Business or Finance.

•    Strong experience in infrastructure project development, procurement, construction, delivery and/or operations.

•    Have experience with risk management for major projects.

•    Outstanding quantitative and analytical skills.

•    The ability to prioritize efficiently, balance assigned work and outstanding organizational skills are required for our constantly evolving environment.

•    Strong interpersonal and communication skills are crucial for team-based work.

•    Membership in professional organizations or the ability to (e.g., CIQS or AACE)

•    Presentation skills with colleagues and clients at all levels.

•    Analytical attitude and/or strategic thinker.

•    Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally.

•    Strong proficiency in a technical or consulting area derived from professional experience (design, construction, development, owner/public sector, technical consulting, investment banking, management consulting, etc.);

•    Excellent presentation and writing skills are required. Sophisticated ability with Microsoft Office Suite.

•    Strong curiosity about and passion for working in the energy or infrastructure sectors.

Toronto Hiring Range – Hiring Range - The good faith base salary hiring range for this job if performed in Toronto is $110,000 to $130,000 per year/hour/month. This range is commensurate with experience, educational background, and skill level. Benefits are not included in the base salary. Please note hiring ranges for candidates performing work outside of Toronto will differ.

Le candidat joindra l’équipe de services-conseils en matière de coûts et de risques et sera basé à l’un de nos bureaux canadiens de Montréal, Toronto, Calgary ou Ottawa.

Le candidat œuvrera au sein d’une équipe diversifiée et fournira ses conseils sur la constructibilité, les coûts, les risques, l’ordonnancement, l’approvisionnement et le financement de projets d’infrastructure dans les domaines suivants : transport, énergie, eau, télécommunications, science et technologie, développement multifonctionnel. Nos projets sont largement axés sur le développement durable, la décarbonation, la résilience, et les principes environnementaux, sociaux et de gouvernance.

Responsabilités

•    Travailler en collaboration avec les clients, les équipes de projet et les parties concernées afin de définir la portée et les différents impacts des projets ;
•    Réaliser des analyses portant sur l’estimation des coûts, l’ordonnancement, la modélisation des risques, les méthodes en vigueur et la constructibilité des projets proposés ;
•    Identifier les opportunités et les lacunes au sein des projets de construction, évaluer les options de construction envisageables et proposer des solutions pertinentes ;
•    Effectuer des analyses des coûts du cycle de vie et des analyses coûts avantages de différents actifs ;
•    Tisser des liens avec l’industrie de la construction afin d’acquérir une meilleure compréhension des méthodes de pointe s’appliquant aux projets d’infrastructure, notamment dans les domaines suivants : ferroviaire, ponts, tunnels, autoroutes et bâtiments ;   
•    Contribuer à la gestion, au mentorat et à l’encadrement d’une équipe en pleine croissance ;  
•    Réaliser ses activités de manière autonome et évaluer les tâches et les résultats d’analyse d’autres membres de l’équipe ;
•    Agir à titre de consultant auprès du marché et entretenir des relations fructueuses à ce chapitre ;
•    Agir en tant que chargé de projet dans le cadre de divers mandats ;
•    Effectuer des analyses à l’aide de différents logiciels de gestion de la construction, notamment HCSS, Revit, AutoCAD, MicroStation, Primavera, Sage, etc. ;
•    Développer des modèles CAPEX, OPEX, LCCA et financiers et assurer la présentation d’analyses complexes ;
•    Travailler avec les équipes d’ingénieurs et de consultants afin d’analyser les impacts et les coûts de main-d’œuvre, de matériaux et d’autres ressources visant une diversité de projets ; 
•    Comprendre, lire et analyser des plans (numériquement et manuellement) ; établir des devis quantitatifs (avant-métrés) ;
•    Réaliser des estimations de coûts de construction de haut niveau et détaillées ;
•    Collaborer avec les clients, notamment dans le cadre de réunions, de présentations ou d’ateliers.

Qualifications

•    Au moins huit (8) ans d’expérience au sein de l’industrie de l’architecture, de l’ingénierie ou de la construction ;
•    Baccalauréat ou expérience équivalente en ingénierie, en gestion de la construction et/ou dans un domaine connexe au sein de l’environnement bâti. Mineure, double majeure, maîtrise ou expérience équivalente en économie, en administration ou en finances ; 
•    Expérience avérée dans le développement, l’approvisionnement, la construction, les opérations et/ou la réalisation de projets ;  
•    Expérience en gestion des risques pour des projets d’envergure ;
•    Excellentes capacités analytiques et quantitatives ;
•    Excellentes aptitudes interpersonnelles et forte capacité à communiquer, essentielles pour le travail d’équipe ;
•    Membre d’une association professionnelle reconnue (par ex., l’Institut canadien des économistes en construction (ICÉC) ou Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering (AACE)) ;
•    Aisance à faire des présentations pour des collègues et des clients de tous les niveaux ;
•    Volonté d'effectuer des déplacements d'affaires au pays et à l'étranger ;
•    Solides compétences dans un domaine technique ou de conseil, acquises grâce à l'expérience professionnelle (conception, construction, développement, secteur public/privé, consultation technique, investissements, gestion, etc.) ;
•    Excellentes habiletés en rédaction ; connaissance approfondie de la suite Microsoft Office ; 
•    Grande curiosité et intérêt marqué pour le domaine de l’énergie ou des infrastructures.

•    Maîtrise ou expérience équivalente dans l’un des domaines suivants : gestion de la construction, économie de la construction, administration, économie ou finances;
•    Maîtrise du français et de l’anglais, à l’oral comme à l’écrit;
•    Bonne connaissance des outils et des méthodes de gestion de projets;
•    Polyvalence, pensée novatrice et créatrice.  

Fourchette d'embauche à Toronto - La fourchette d'embauche du salaire de base de bonne foi pour ce poste, s'il est exercé à Toronto, est de 110 000 $ à 130 000 $ par année. Les avantages sociaux ne sont pas inclus dans le salaire de base. Veuillez noter que les fourchettes d'embauche pour les candidats travaillant à l'extérieur de Toronto seront différentes.
