Reporting to the Commercial Manager, the Senior Cost Engineer will be responsible for cost management activities which require advanced technical skill in cost monitoring, control and financial reporting. This new role will primarily support stakeholders in operations, finance and commercial with innovative solutions to cost engineering challenges.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Develop, implement and maintain cost monitoring and control standards, systems, mechanisms and reports which complies with The Downer Standard Prepare, monitor and control project budgets and cost estimates Track project expenditures against budget and forecast costs to complete (EVM) Manage and maintain multiple projects Analyse and report on cost variances and the associated schedule impacts Maintain accurate and up-to-date cost data and records Champion change/trend management processes including analysis of cost/schedule impact and assessment of risk/opportunities and the corresponding mitigation strategy Focal point for all cost information and active participation in the preparation of monthly Project Valuation (revenue to date, committed costs, forecast at complete and cost to date), Risk and Opportunities Register and other ad-hoc reports Lead the assessment of downstream and compilation/submission of upstream payment Committed to continuous self-development as well as strong leadership skills to mentor team membersABOUT YOU
Bachelor’s Degree or higher (Construction Management, Engineering, Law, Business, Accounting or similar field) with solid 10+ years of project controls or cost related experience Experience in performing, monitoring, and reviewing cost engineering functions, which include cost estimating, cost control, and cost analysis Strong analytical, problem solving and numeracy skills with the ability to identify and elaborate on trend drivers Advanced level of knowledge in engineering, procurement, contracts, construction, and financial management/reporting Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate effectively within a multi-discipline team environment.
