**Job Description:** The Senior Counsel provides leadership on a Legal Services team, may supervise legal caregivers, and is accountable for a portfolio of legal work within that team. We prefer a candidate who lives in the Denver Metro area; however, we will consider a fully remote candidate who is willing to travel frequently to Colorado.** With this position, you are eligible to participate in an annual pay-for-performance opportunity (“AP4P”). This plan enables Intermountain Health to provide leaders with an additional performance compensation opportunity. The AP4P opportunities are calculated as a percentage of your base salary. Awards are paid out based on attainment of selected Intermountain Health Board-approved goals. As the Senior Counsel, you will: + Manage a portfolio of Intermountain’s legal matters including providing legal counsel and guidance relating to healthcare operational issues in the Front Range, including patient care issues, medical staff, licensing and certification, policies, contractual arrangements, regulatory requirements, Stark and Anti-Kickback compliance, and other areas of health care operations subject to state and federal laws and regulations. + Work cooperatively and closely with VP- and AVP-level leaders and stakeholders within Intermountain on legal and regulatory issues. + Identify, analyze and resolve complex or novel matters which have no clear legal or business precedent or have different possible interpretations. + Read, write, analyze and interpret complex documents, contracts and instruments. + Manage legal projects, initiatives or government investigations. + Work directly with an Intermountain business unit and develops an understanding of the business unit’s needs, products and services. Advise business unit on its policies and procedures. + Partner with management to evaluate legal impact of major decisions where applicable law, regulations, or facts of the matter are unclear, controversial or conflicting. + Manage matters assigned to one or more outside firms. + Demonstrate strong teaming, relationship and collaborating skills. Able to identify, manage and mitigate legal, regulatory and other types of risks and have good judgment with respect to Intermountain’s business needs and objectives. + Analyze complex situations and develop simple, concise, and effective legal solutions while leveraging and managing in-house and outside legal resources + Actively engage and coordinate with other Intermountain legal caregivers for effective and consistent delivery of health care legal operations services across the enterprise Qualifications: + Juris Doctor degree from an ABA accredited law school. Education is verified. + License to practice law in a state where Intermountain is located or be willing to obtain such licensure within 12 months of hire date. Licensure is verified. + Prior Healthcare experience is required + Highly prefer five (5) years’ legal work experience either with a law firm or in-house legal department involving the performance of general, operational, or specialty legal services for hospitals, health systems, medical foundations or groups, clinics, providers, health care delivery organizations, or integrated delivery systems. + Prior experience managing projects and programs is required + Experience in ambulatory and hospital-based healthcare delivery + Experience facilitating and leading groups involved in a complex portfolio, along with experience managing projects, programs and budgets is required. + Significant experience or demonstrated ability in a role requiring excellent written and oral communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders in an organization (management, senior attorneys, physicians, compliance, hospital administrators, etc.). \#LI-EXECRC **Physical Requirements:** **Anticipated job posting close date:** 10/10/2024 **Location:** Peaks Regional Office **Work City:** Broomfield **Work State:** Colorado **Scheduled Weekly Hours:** 40 The hourly range for this position is listed below.
