Allianz Life Insurance Company of North America (“Allianz Life”) is seeking a highly motivated investment attorney to be a member of the legal team. This position will include providing legal support for Allianz Life’s investment portfolio and its investment management subsidiaries. This individual will work closely with various members of the legal department as well as other cross-functional groups. The position is located at Allianz Life's corporate headquarters in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This role will be working in a hybrid environment with approximately 60% percent of time spent in the office.

 

What you do:

Provide high quality legal services on a timely and cost-efficient basis Provide comprehensive legal support in the investment space for a large life insurance company and its investment management subsidiary, including reviewing, negotiating, and drafting investment related agreements.  This includes investment management agreements, subadvisory agreements, IDSA Master Agreements and related credit support annexes, master repurchase agreements, futures and swap clearing account agreements, standard options agreements, and alternative investment documents, including limited partnership agreements, note purchase agreements, and subscription agreements. Advise on legal and regulatory requirements, corporate policies and procedures, best practices, and strategies for managing risk as part of a multi-national organization, including providing advice with respect to insurance regulatory exams related to the investment function, as needed. Analyze business plans and participate in project teams and corporate initiatives to identify legal risks, and advise clients on findings and mitigation strategies, including completing legal research Offer legal support to the investment governance, risk, and compliance team, by advising on laws, regulations, and corporate policies applicable to institutional investment advisers and insurance company investors Assist with corporate governance and operational matters, as needed Prepare legal memoranda, legal agreements, regulatory filings, and other documents Collaborate cross functionally with other attorneys and outside counsel to provide holistic legal advice

 

What you bring:

Law degree from ABA accredited law school Licensed to practice in Minnesota or an active member in good standing with a state bar with the ability to be admitted in Minnesota within six months of hiring 9+ years of experience with a law firm or in-house corporate law department, in an in-house corporate law department of an institutional investment manager or for the internal investment department of an insurance company Broad experience in providing legal counsel on sophisticated institutional and alternative investments, hedging and derivatives trading and general corporate governance matters Experience in providing legal counsel on distressed assets or assets in workout arrangements Initiative-taker with strong organizational, communication and people skills Ability to navigate complicated and nuanced issues Inquisitive and willing to learn and expand legal knowledge in unanticipated areas and take on new challenges Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects Demonstrated success as a team member and in collaborating with business partners.

Base Salary Range $141,000 - $282,000

Actual base salary may vary based upon factors such as relevant experience, qualifications, internal equity of peers, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual incentive program.
