Job Title: Senior Court Support Specialist, Court Services 

 

Job Summary:                                      

 CASES is seeking a Senior Court Support Specialist, Court Services, to provide support to our new initiative within the Supervise Release program at CASES in Manhattan. The Senior Court Specialist will involve enrolling clients in court and conducting supervision appointments in the field. It uniquely focuses on building and maintaining a caseload that bridges the courtroom and the community daily, requiring regular outreach and community meetings. 

The CASES Court Services department facilitates court-mandated or endorsed programming throughout the criminal legal process. We operate community-based alternatives to detention (ATD) and alternatives to incarceration (ATI) programs in collaboration with the NYS Office of Court Administration (OCA) judiciary. All teams with Court Services are committed to CASES’ mission, focusing on facilitating release and achieving positive court outcomes. 

 

Salary: The salary for the Senior Court Support Specialist is $68,000 per year. 

Shift Hours: The Senior Court Support Specialist is full-time working Sunday through Thursday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Location Address: Industrious, 200 Broadway, NY, NY 10038 and expected travel throughout NYC (see responsibilities).

Workplace Flexibility: Onsite, expected to travel throughout NYC neighborhoods to provide outreach and support to clients within their communities. 

 

What you will be doing: 

Be flexible and innovative in the first of its kind position at CASES of court and community work.Assist in the implementation of the Intensive Services Unit subsection of Manhattan SRP. Provide support for Manhattan Supervised Release (SRP) participants immediately upon release from their court appearance.Provide outreach and support to clients in their communities throughout NYC neighborhoods. Engage and gain a rapport with clients to assist in compliance with SRP court mandates.Assist in de-escalation of and crisis management, when appropriate after the client’s release.Assess and provide services to clients to address housing, income support, education and vocational training, social support, employment, and primary care needs.Provide transitional support for clients to their home, shelters, treatment programs and/or other services to ensure and secure connection to programming.  Assist clients with linkages to and systems navigation within the behavioral health, human services, and criminal justice systems as appropriate.Provide mobile crisis responses to clients in distress from their court appearance and possible aid for their transport to a hospital. Assist and support less experienced staff on best practices for clients in crisis. 

 

 What we are looking for: 

Master’s degree in related field  At least 5 years of work experience providing peer support to individuals with serious mental illness and criminal justice involvement  At least 2 years mentoring colleagues  Proficiency with computer and electronic case records.  Comfort and experience working in various NYC neighborhoods and working outdoors for most of the workday regardless of weather conditions.

 

Additional, preferred skills we are looking for but are not required: 

 CASAC or CASAC-T preferred.Fluency in both Spanish and English strongly preferred.
