Job summary

Iron Mountain are continuing to expand our Data Center business exponentially and have a new position for a Senior Critical Facilities Technician to help support that growth. The purpose of the role is to supervise day to day site activities of the maintenance team, reactive and subcontractor maintenance in ensuring the delivery of Planned Preventative Maintenance and Reactive works to Building Services Systems. Also you will be responsible for managing the daily QHSE requirements of the site and to maintain critical plant at optimum operating levels.

Your role in our mission:

Ensure that Planned Preventative Maintenance & Reactive maintenance is carried out to all client assets through operation of Planned Preventative Maintenance System, and Service Now

Ensure that accurate and comprehensive records are kept pertaining to Health & Safety, Building Compliance and Quality Assurance.

Ensure that sub-contractors perform to meet the requirement of the contract. Administer sub-contractor work approvals and safe operation while repair or service is carried out on site.

To operate a Permit to Work System in accordance with Iron Mountain DC Quality, Health & Safety procedures.

To supervise all shift and day staff

To ensure  high standards of workmanship are adhered to at all times, to instil best working practices, regularly assess the quality of work produced by the team,

Provide support and guidance to staff to ensure smooth operation of client’s plant and equipment, assist with fault finding, provide technical support and on-site training for shift engineers, allocate planned and reactive work to shift engineers, that plant faults and defects are swiftly remedied to maintain plant in serviceable order at all times, and any such defects are recorded on the site shift logs.

Routine quality checks on workforce activities, record keeping and general housekeeping.

To oversee the stock control process and ensure that minimal critical spares levels are maintained

Overview the buildings environmental conditions using the BMS System and utilise same to maintain acceptable internal conditions.

Assist Data Centre Engineering in preparing Change Control applications for all works on Data Centre Critical Equipment and oversee visits by Iron Mountain DC /Clients Specialist sub-contractors during maintenance visits ensuring Site Inductions are up to date

To Support the Data Centre Engineering in developing technical procedures and overseeing their implementation

Ensure that comprehensive maintenance records are completed in the form of  job sheets., with accurate and sufficient detail recording work undertaken, and to ensure a Dynamic Risk Assessment is completed by the site team for all PPM’s and reactive tasks.

Ensure that Method Statements and Risk Assessments are prepared, reviewed and utilised for all tasks (PPM’s and reactive) carried out to ensure safe working practices.

To maintain compliance to all QHSE policies in all areas, ensuring the provision of a Safe & healthy working environment, to conduct regular site safety audits and toolbox talks.

Ensure a professional image of Iron Mountain DC is presented to customers and visitors

Undertake other tasks as defined and requested by local management.

Ensure assigned tasks are actioned and completed as appropriate, including the utilisation of the shift engineers to ensure the task is suitably completed.

To run small projects on site covering all technical aspects of the task, produce a scope of works, agree time frames and cost with Data Centre Engineering, arrange for the appropriate labour and materials in order for the project to be completed on time.

To develop all employees, ensuring their motivation and commitment to the company, assist the team and Identify training needs to ensure they are suitably skilled, trained and appropriate training plans are drafted and implemented.

To ensure the site engineers are undertaking work tasks as directed and with suitable H&S awareness/implementation.

Ensure an awareness and compliance to KPI’s/SLA’s.

Ensure the Computer Based Maintenance system, Concept, is kept up to date and that PPM and reactive tickets are closed out with accurate data captured.

Ensure the engineering team on site produce required near miss reports, dynamic risk assessments and detailed records of site activities, and ensuring any non-compliance is challenged and escalated where necessary.

Any other task as directed by the Critical Facilities management team

Valued skills and essential experience:

Experience of maintaining tight humidity & temperature control conditioned environments.

General all round knowledge of Heating & Ventilation / Air Conditioning and building support systems and their methods of control.

Minimum of 2 years previous supervisory experience.

HV Qualification is essential for the role.

Electrical / Electronic Engineering,

LV Qualification or Extensive LV experience required

Data Centre or Critical Environment experience
