What We Are Looking For:
We are looking for a Senior Data Analyst to evaluate and enhance the effectiveness of natural language search requests within our product. In this role, you will analyze user search behavior to identify unsupported queries, surface opportunities to improve search capabilities, and ensure we are delivering the most relevant and comprehensive results to our users. This is a dynamic position where you will bridge the gap between data, technology, and customer experience.
This position is located in Washington, DC and offers the following schedule:
4 days onsite / 1 day remoteRESPONSIBILITIES
Search Query Analysis:
Evaluate user-generated natural language search queries to identify patterns, trends, and unsupported search types.Utilize analytical techniques such as word clouds, frequency analysis, and natural language processing (NLP) tools to highlight common search gaps.Search Gap Identification:
Identify the most common searches that our current search engine cannot support.Determine whether the underlying data exists within our ecosystem but is not being surfaced effectively.Data Investigation and Acquisition:
Track down missing or incomplete data within internal systems that could enable better search results.Collaborate with internal data teams to surface existing data or acquire it from reliable sources.Research and evaluate third-party vendors who can provide relevant datasets to close search gaps.Stakeholder Collaboration:
Work closely with Product Managers, Data Engineers, and Search Engineers to communicate findings and recommend data integration solutions.Present actionable insights on search trends and data needs to leadership teams.Reporting and Monitoring:
Develop regular reports to track search effectiveness, unsupported search trends, and improvements over time.Establish KPIs to measure the success of improvements and ensure continuous optimization.BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Business Analytics, or related field from an accredited, not-for-profit University or College.5+ years of experience in search analytics, natural language query evaluation, or data analysis.5+ years of experience in tools such as Python, SQL, Excel, and data visualization platforms (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).Experience with text analytics and NLP tools to process and analyze search queries.Strong ability to investigate data sources, identify gaps, and assess data quality.Familiarity with search engine functionality, data acquisition workflows, and data vendor evaluation.Excellent communication and problem-solving skills with a strong analytical mindset.A track record of commitment to prior employersThis position offers a base salary range of $98,000 -$159,000, based on relevant skills and experience and includes a generous benefits plan.
