The Senior Data Engineer will play a crucial role in developing, improving, and maintaining our data infrastructure and Business Intelligence systems. This position requires expertise in Snowflake and other modern data technologies to transform raw data into actionable insights, automated reports, and interactive dashboards. The ideal candidate will work closely with business units and technical teams to drive data-driven decision-making across the organization.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Design, develop, and optimize data pipelines using Snowflake, focusing on efficient ETL (Extract Transform Load)/ELT (Extract Load, Transform) processes and adhering to data warehouse best practicesImplement and manage scalable data models and transformations using tools like dbt (Data Build tool) in conjunction with SnowflakeCreate and maintain complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and user-defined functions in SnowflakeDevelop reports, dashboards, and analytics solutions using Snowflake and compatible BI toolsCollaborate with data architects, DBAs, and other stakeholders to ensure data solutions are reliable, scalable, and maintainableProactively identify and resolve data quality issues, improving data integrity across systemsDocument data processes, architectures, and code to ensure knowledge transfer and maintainabilityMentor junior team members and provide technical guidance on Snowflake best practicesPerforms other duties as assigned and modified at manager’s discretion.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Advanced-level business acuityIn-depth knowledge and understanding of general/core job-related functions, practices, processes, procedures, techniques and methodsExtensive experience with Snowflake, including data modeling, performance tuning, and security featuresStrong proficiency in SQL and experience with Python or other programming languagesExpertise in data warehouse concepts and modern data architecturesExperience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and data integration toolsFamiliarity with BI tools compatible with Snowflake (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, or Looker)Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detailExcellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholdersAdvanced skill in Microsoft Office Suite products including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook; competent in other systems required for the positionAbility and willingness to travel locally, regionally and/or nationally up to 10% of the time; flexible to work evening, weekends and/or holidays as neededSpoken and written fluency in EnglishThis job requires use and exercise of independent judgmentEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE CRITERIA:BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related field; Master’s degree preferred OR additional experience above the minimum may be considered in lieu of the required education on a year-for-year basisA minimum of 5 years’ work experience in data engineering or related roles requiredExperience with real-time data streaming and processingKnowledge of machine learning concepts and their data requirementsFamiliarity with data governance and security best practicesExperience in the healthcare or finance industry
