We are seeking a talented Data Engineer to join our Compliance Engineering Team within the Data Org of PayPal. The candidate will be responsible for analysis, design, coding, and testing of the Data applications and ETL Engineering. The role demands the individual to the technical skills required to perform the job in an effective manner. The individual should be motivated, possess creative problem-solving skills, The candidate should have passion for data & analytics.

Compliance Data Engineering is a division within DAIS - Data Foundational Services, tasked with executing critical compliance initiatives such as Sanctions, Investigations, Tax, Escheatment, and Regulatory Change Management programs. These initiatives are implemented globally to ensure PayPal adheres to regulatory requirements.

Work with the top engineering talents to solve the tech challenges including high scalability using the cutting-edge cloud and big data technologies.Code is well-commented, easy to maintain, and can be reused across a sub-system or feature. Code may persist for the lifetime of a software version.Code is thoroughly tested with very few bugs and is supported by unit tests.Should be comfortable working in an agile environment and with cross-functional teams, should have appetite to learn and be flexible to pick up new technology.

Participating and collaborating with teams in the organization to understand the business requirements and to deliver solutions that can scale.Approaching the problem, considering all possibilities and options.Proactively anticipating problems and appropriately communicating to the team and management in a timely manner.Being flexible and being able to support all functions of product life cycle when required.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

What do you need to bring-

Bachelor’s degree in computer science with 4+ years of experience in data engineering.Strong analytical skills, with the ability to define problems, gather data, establish facts, and draw sound conclusions.Strong Knowledge on Google Cloud Platform, Big Data, Streaming Integrations, Spark, Big Query, Data Proc, Pub Sub, Kafka, Hadoop, Hive. Strong Knowledge of SQL and other/NoSQL/modern database and storage technologies. Strong Knowledge in any programming language like Java, Python, ScalaStrong communication skills, with a proactive approach to contributing beyond basic responsibilities.Familiarity with data movement techniques and best practices for managing large data volumes.Experience in data warehousing architecture and best practices in data modelling.Exposure to BI tools like Tableau/looker is a plus.Experience with scheduling tools like UC4/Control M is a plus.Experience with using Agile/Scrum methodology for software development.
