ABOUT THIS ROLE
Data drives innovation and this senior role is behind the wheel of our Data Engineering group. This foundational role designs and builds the paths to fine-tune Audible’s operations and outpace our competitors. Our Data Engineering group owns the datasets and platforms that not only enable our systems but also our people, to uncover new insights. You’ll put your experience to work in a start-up culture – all while accessing the tech-forward tools, training, and infrastructure of our parent company, Amazon.

This group is a part of a world class team of developers that will be defining, designing and refining the tech that keeps us one step ahead of listeners. As a Senior Data Engineer, you will...
- Lead the development of systems and datasets, applying best practices and diverse knowledge in our inclusive data engineering ecosystem
- Peer review and mentor junior team members, fostering their growth and development
- Analyze source systems, define data sources and transformation requirements, and design appropriate data models while documenting specifications
- Utilize broad technology expertise to build systems aligned with business needs in the Data Engineering ecosystem
- Implement systems and datasets using software engineering best practices, data management fundamentals, and operational excellence principles
- Demonstrate dedication to quality and productivity through efficient development techniques and adherence to standards
- Communicate effectively with teams and stakeholders, escalating and resolving technical and managerial issues
- Conduct peer reviews and actively mentor team members, enhancing their skills, system knowledge, and productivity

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience
- 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- Programming experience with one or more modern language (e.g., Java, C++, C#, Python), including object-oriented design
- 1+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current system
- Experience writing clear, maintainable and extensible code
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to independently navigate highly complex and ambiguous situations
- Prior experience in the data domain - data instrumentation, knowledge of core data and database design, processing and modeling large, complex data sets for Analytics, Data Science and Applications
- Expertise in data technologies such AWS Redshift, Spark
