Position: Senior Data Scientist

Duties: Build data science and advanced data analytics solutions aimed at supporting various ongoing and new business initiatives for Walmart stores and online grocery/GM delivery. Identify business problems or opportunities where data science solutions can be leveraged and develop advanced data analytics or data science project initiatives. Identify and validate the data sources that can be utilized and formulate key metrics that can be used later to assess the performance of processes or quantify impact of solutions. Extract data tables and execute data manipulation for the required format for analysis. Develop advanced statistical models, machine learning, or deep learning algorithms for building descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive data science solutions. Develop solutions successfully in the supply chain domain. Collaborate with product management and engineering teams to deploy ML models into production. Effectively communicate results and insights to key decision makers in a well-structured and concise format for implementation. Apply broad knowledge of ML/AI capabilities to identify new focus areas and opportunities. Accurately attribute delivery defects using a centralized framework built after consolidating data sources from various backend systems of Last Mile Delivery. Identify potential resolutions in the systems and processes to improve the delivery experience for customers. Develop ML/AI enabled solutions to optimize the store frontend design which will streamline customer flow and improve the customer checkout experience.

Minimum education and experience required: Master’s degree or equivalent in Statistics, Economics, Analytics (any), Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, Actuarial Science, or related field and 1 year of experience in an analytics related field; OR Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Statistics, Economics, Analytics (any), Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, Actuarial Science, or related field and 3 years of experience in an analytics related field.

Skills required: Experience analyzing and designing databases and queries in SQL and NoSQL. Experience creating complex automated workflows for complete Machine Learning model creation in Dataiku. Experience handling data from various data sources including Cassandra, Hive, HANA, and Hadoop. Experience working with Google Cloud Platform and their Machine Learning and compute components. Experience designing and implementing cloud computing architecture and creating data pipelines in Azure, GCP, and Databricks. Experience building effective data visualizations using R library (GGplot), Python Library (Matplotlib and Ploty), Tableau, Looker, and PowerBI. Experience coding in the following languages for data analysis and building ML models: Python, Spark, SAS, and R. Experience with algorithmic design and analysis. Experience working on advanced statistical and ML modeling techniques (including neural networks, SVM, Random Forest, ARIMA, Mixed Modeling, k-means clustering, Principal Component Analysis, GLM, classification models, ensemble techniques, regularization techniques, Bayesian models, tree-based models, NLP, and Neural Networks). Experience with feature engineering and building frameworks for continuous and iterative model enhancements through model parameter tuning. Experience working in supply chain network optimization and simulation problems using Python packages including CPlex and SimPy packages. Experience building frameworks to analyze retail customer surveys by leveraging Generative AI-ChatGPT4 or other Large Language Models. Experience working with the following Python packages for data manipulation and modeling: Pandas, Numpy, Scikit-Learn, Matplotlib, Seaborn, pickle, joblib, imblearn, and SciPy. Experience planning, designing, implementing, deploying, and monitoring Machine Learning, time series forecasting, reinforcement learning, and deep learning models. Experience designing and implementing Rest API using Python. Experience developing large-scale ML/AI solutions that can be used by stakeholders. Experience working with Collibra to manage data assets including enabling data discovery, tracking data lineage, assessing data quality, and enforcing data security. Experience with agile methodologies using project planning and tracking management tool JIRA. Experience working in the supply chain domain, including warehouses, distribution centers (DCs), and Fulfilment centers (FCs). Employer will accept any amount of experience with the required skills.
