About the roleAs Senior Data Security Engineer, you will be at the forefront of safeguarding our digital ecosystem. Collaborate with dynamic teams across Data, Engineering, Privacy, HR, and Compliance to architect cutting-edge security solutions that drive innovation and protect our business.
You will report to the Associate Director, Privacy & Compliance Engineering.

Pay Transparency:
The base pay for this role is: $144,000 - $189,000 per year. You are also eligible for employee benefits, participation in Oscar's unlimited vacation program, company equity grants, and annual performance bonuses.
Responsibilities Spearhead a More Secure Data Management Lifecycle: Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive data security framework encompassing data creation, storage, usage, sharing, and deletion, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices. Design and Implement Safer Data Access: Architect and deploy granular access control mechanisms, leveraging technologies like column and row level access controls to ensure proper data access is consistently enforced and least privilege principles are met. Drive Strategic Security Initiatives: Lead ad-hoc security projects aligned with broader technology and organizational goals, contributing to the development and execution of the long-term security roadmap. Measure and Report on Security Initiatives: Develop innovative metrics and reporting frameworks to evaluate the impact of security initiatives, providing clear, actionable insights for executives and ensuring accountability to stakeholders. Champion Security Best Practices and Culture: Partner with internal stakeholders to refine security standards and promote a security-first mindset throughout the organization.Other duties as assigned Qualifications 2+ years of relevant experience in data science, data engineering, or technical security engineering role Bonus Points 5+ years experience with modern database and storage (SQL) and data pipeline creation2+ years of programming experience (strong preference for Python) Bachelor’s degree in a technical space Experience communicating technical issues or requirements and their implications to other areas of the business Ability to commit and manage code in multiple repositories Familiarity with HIPAA and other data protection regulations

Pay Transparency: Final offer amounts, within the base pay set forth above, are determined by factors including your relevant skills, education, and experience.
