GDIT has an opportunity for a Senior Database Administrator to support the modernization and sustainment of a large portfolio of enterprise business solutions used by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). The position supports a new program, the NASA Consolidated Applications and Platform Services (NCAPS) which consolidates enterprise-wide applications and platform services across the Agency and supports the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) Application Division transformation into the Application and Platform Service (APS) Line with agile based service delivery and IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) based service management practices.
The Senior Database Administrator will support Armstrong Flight Research Center (AFRC) with database programming and support for the systems and services that fall under centralized information technology (IT) services managed by the OCIO.
Responsibilities:
Senior-level database administration and programmer support. Applies comprehensive knowledge of concepts, processes, practices, and procedures on technical assignments. Provides all activities related to the administration of computerized databases. Projects long-range requirements for database administration and design in conjunction with other managers in the information systems function. Designs, creates, and maintains databases in a client/server environment. Conducts quality control and auditing of databases in a client/server environment to ensure accurate and appropriate use of data. Advises users on access to various client/server databases. Designs, implements, and maintains complex databases with respect to scripting languages, access methods, access time, device allocation, validation checks, organization, protection and security, documentation, and statistical methods. Applies knowledge and experience with database technologies, development methodologies, and front-end (e.g., COGNOS)/back-end programming languages (e.g., SQL).Performs database programming and supports systems design. Includes maintenance of database dictionaries, overall monitoring of standards and procedures, file design and storage, and integration of systems through database design.Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Management Systems, or a related discipline.8 plus years related technical experience to include CONGOS and SQL. Public Trust clearance, and ability to obtain higher level, if needed.Experience in preparation of standard operating procedures.Strong organizational skills.Desired:
Prior experience supporting NASA.Passion for developing customer-focused solutions.SAFe and ITIL certifications.
