Platform Services Operations is looking for a motivated and solution focused Senior Engineer with database experience to join us to boost effectiveness, accelerate delivery and enhance the product. Based in Manassas, VA, you will be working alongside a dynamic team of engineers working on development & maintenance of oracle database infrastructure in Swift. Your team is fully responsible for the design, optimization and life cycle management of the Oracle database platform within Swift. This DevOps team engages in the product evolution; covering software architecture, development, quality assurance, security, life cycle management and infrastructure aspects.

What to expect

In this role you will:

Resolve complex problems by investigating and supporting the critically important applications consuming these database servicesAutomate installations procedures, configuration and maintenance of the database infrastructureDevelop and integrate third party components including system testing and monitoringContribute to new development and designing solutions for service operations as well as maintenance of existing complex database infrastructureOpportunities to lead and participate in design discussions, code walkthrough meetingsEnsure compliance to Swift security best practices and coding standardsEnsure compliance to Swift database reference architecture and requirement/ design artefactsEnsure compliance to Swift development and release methodologies (CM as well as CI/CD)Provide TOI (Transfer of Information) and technical guidance as necessary to team membersSupport set-up of test environment, write unit test driver, functional drivers.This position offers flexible work between onsite and remote (At least 2 days working onsite)

What will make you successful?

We are seeking professionals with:Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field5 + years of experience as a database engineerGood understanding and experience with multitenant (19c CDB and PDB) oracle database infrastructureSolid understanding and experience in implementing different facets of Maximum Availability Architecture (MAA) such as Active Data Guard, zero downtime patching, or Multitenant MAAExposure and 3+ years of experience with DevOps practices and toolset with strong focus on automation of provisioning, quality controls, security auditing and maintenanceHands on experience with Automation/Scripting (Ansible, Python, Robot framework etc) and CI/CD tooling, including Jenkins, CloudBees, Nexus, Bitbucket/git, or equivalentExperience with RHEL operating system and bash/shell scriptingAnalytical skills to resolve operational problems within the defined schedules and SLAs.Adaptability and responsiveness to changeTake accountability for delivering resultsExperience in working on critically important, highly available, high-performance software systemsProblem solving capabilities and take accountability for delivering resultsStrong communication skills (Both Written & Oral)Agile mindset and be able to work in a fast paced environment, as well experience with Agile/Scrum tooling including Jira, Confluence, or equivalentDemonstrates Operational ExcellenceLeads with a team focusPreferred qualifications:Experience with Oracle Golden Gate replication architectureKnowledge on Oracle Advanced Security, Transparent Data Encryption and Database VaultKnowledge of TLS/SSL and configuration of Oracle WalletAdditional knowledge of Real Application Clusters, Fleet patching are added on

The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position in Virginia is $92,120.00 USD Annual MINIMUM to $171,080.00 USD Annual MAXIMUM. Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. Our compensation packages include a competitive base salary and bonus opportunity for all employee’s contingent on personal and company performance.
