The Hartford is currently looking for a Senior Database Reliability Engineer. This role provides in-depth consulting to client and IT management and staff at the highest technical level in the identification and resolution of information flow, content issues and the transformation of business requirements into relational database definitions. Performs data modeling studies and develops detailed data models.  Works with client and IT management and staff to establish and maintain consistent data element definitions across computing environments including Web and e-commerce. Recommends access rules in accordance with established security and privacy practices. Participates in the development and maintenance of corporate data architecture, data management standards and conventions, data dictionaries and data element naming standards and conventions for multiple computing environments. Prepares written reports of findings and recommendations.  Prepares business requirements reports, feasibility studies, and cost justification statements.  Consults with client management on approaches to address business needs and opportunities. Provides linkage and continuity to business units and development groups in the implementation of recommendations. Acts as an expert technical resource to client and development management and staff in all phases of the development and implementation process. ​

Qualifications from the PostgreSQL DBA requirement:

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related disciplineRequires at least 6 plus years of experience with implementations, upgrades, conversions, and consolidation projects with Oracle or MS SQL Server database.Automation skills, such as Ansible, Python, terraform for IAC.Knowledge and experience of AWS or Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and Cloud ServiceHands-on cloud migration experience is preferred.Comprehension of PostgreSQL architecture with the ability to complete daily activities on a database.Role creationService account privileges issuesPermission or login issuesRelease deployment and DML outside of a CI/CD pipelineExperience working with pgAdmin.Understanding of AWS persona based access.Knowledge of AWS writer and reader instances.Knowledge of PSQL (Command Line).Migration of objects and schemas using PG_DUMP & PG_RESTORE for Postgres.Aurora database design knowledge (Storage, Global, switchover, Aurora engine product).Distinction between serverless, headless and persistent AWS instances.Installation of Extensions in AWS Aurora or RDS PostgreSQLUtilizing AWS Catalogs or CI/CD to create a Database.PGPSQL, Scheduling jobs via lambda.Experience in upgrading Aurora and RDS PostgreSQL database (Minor, Major upgrade).Performance tuning experience across cloud native technologiesRequires strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities.AWS Cloud Practitioner and / or Solution Architect certifications preferred.Strong understanding of observability & monitoringCandidate must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship.

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$104,160 - $156,240
