We currently have an opportunity for a Senior Design Manager to join our team. This position will support the Riverina Redevelopment Joint Venture (RRJV), which is a 50/50 joint venture between Downer and CPB Contractors to undertake major upgrades and replacement of existing Defence infrastructure and facilities.
We are seeking candidates to be part of our team on the redevelopment project, covering the Albury Wodonga Military Area, Blamey Barracks (Kapooka) and the RAAF Base Wagga.
The Senior Design Manager role will be based in our Melbourne CBD office.
What you’ll do
The role has a broad remit, with key responsibilities outlined below:
Effectively manage the design of the project including: Ensuring the design fully complies with the project contract documents Delivering to the design programme Promote and develop improvements into the design Ensure that safety and constructability is built into the design Develop and deliver against project goals and objectives including preparing accurate monthly reports on project performance criteria Ensuring the design team is adequately resourced to deliver key requirements in line with the programme, budget and contractual arrangements
Lead and develop an effective and productive team, including: Driving performance and providing leadership to the project team Drive and manage performance of design consultants Effectively assign tasks to team members to deliver the required project outputs to agreed specifications Developing alignment between team capability and function’s business objectives Set goals for team Ensuring role clarity, including responsibilities and reporting lines, exists for team members Identifying resource and skill gaps and developing strategies to bridge gaps Developing broader succession planning outcomes Mentoring Design coordinators
What you’ll bring
Minimum 10 years design experience in the related field. A bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline Interpretation and application of contracts. Knowledge of safety and environmental legislation. Written and verbal communication skills. Analytical, negotiation and interpersonal skills. Industry and or project induction in accordance with legislation.
