Senior Designer

Eaton’s Electrical division is currently seeking a Senior Designer to join our team in Richmond, VA.

 

This position is involved in the entire process of creating functional and efficient mechanical and electrical systems, from the initial concept, design, and development stages through to the testing of the finished product.
In collaboration with other professionals, such as engineers and manufacturers, to ensure designs are practical, cost-effective, and meet all relevant regulations and standards.

 

The expected annual salary range for this role is $63,749 - $93,499 a year.

What you’ll do: Develop detailed design drawings and specifications for electromechanical products, electrical designs, and installation instructions drawings according to specifications for engineering and/or manufacturing purposes, using SolidWorks and other modeling tools.Prepare electrical aspects of new power distribution & monitoring products, per approved engineering specifications utilizing 3D modeling and 2D drawings, GD&T, Tolerance Stack up and Documentation Test and document new products per approved testing plans. Maintain all design & test documentation within engineering repository system.Implement and participate in design modifications to improve product line costs and ease of assembly for new and existing products based on cost trades, design improvements and Value-Added Value Engineering (VAVE) process.Inspect designs as requested to verify conformance to specifications. Recommend and implement measures to improve production methods and quality of product.Other duties as assigned.Basic (Required) Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent (e.g., GED)Minimum 2 years of experience in SolidWorks component and assembly modeling and drawings preparation in a manufacturing environmentCandidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without out company sponsorship, now or in the futureNo relocation is being offered for this role.  All candidates considered must live within 50 miles of the Richmond, VA location.  Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitationPreferred Qualifications: Associate degree or certificate in engineering technology, computer aided design (CAD) or similar program.Proficient with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and other engineering design / modeling systems.Experience with Microsoft Office applicationsExperience with assembly, test, design of electrical power distribution and control systems.Position Success Criteria: Individual must be able to move about and be stationary on a regular basis.   Individual must be able to lift up to 25 pounds on occasion.Individual must be able to express and/or exchange ideas by means of listening and using spoken wordIndividual must have the visual acuity to perform essential job function
