The Senior Detailer for Plumbing is integral in developing detailed BIM content for plumbing coordination, ensuring the creation of drawings vital for prefabrication and installation as per contract documents. This role involves close collaboration with engineers and project managers to clarify design nuances, resolve discrepancies, and keep meticulous records of all revisions. The ideal candidate will possess an advanced level of precision, attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and accuracy in their work.
Salary Range: $30 - $60 per hour (DOE), FLSA non-exempt (OT eligible).
Key Responsibilities:
+ Read, comprehend, and interpret plumbing plan drawings, specifications, and material submittals.
+ Utilize project-specific CAD/BIM software to create detailed 3D models of plumbing systems, including fixtures, pipes, supports, and related components, facilitating the production of fabrication and installation drawings.
+ Develop detailed fabrication drawings for plumbing components, including isometric and orthographic views for shop-fabricated assemblies.
+ Produce installation drawings detailing the layout and support systems for plumbing installations.
+ Create supplementary drawings as needed, such as sketches, sleeve/penetration drawings, and equipment layouts.
+ Generate necessary reports for estimating, material procurement, quality assurance, and productivity tracking related to plumbing projects.
+ Conduct site measurements and as-built modeling for existing plumbing systems to ensure accurate integration into new designs.
+ Provide valuable input on plumbing constructability, value engineering, and conflict resolution during all project phases.
+ Use Navisworks to navigate and review models, identifying and resolving conflicts with other trades or structural elements.
+ Adhere to established project standards for controls, model content, drawing output, and file management.
+ Maintain positive relationships with project teams, engaging in problem-solving and innovation to enhance productivity.
+ Manage and meet project deadlines with a proactive approach.
+ Engage in the RFI process to address discrepancies and gather required information.
+ Assist in managing work packages and document control for plumbing drawings.
Experience / Qualifications:
+ High School diploma or equivalent certification.
+ Five plus years of experience as a Plumbing Detailer or similar role.
+ Preferred: Field experience in plumbing.
+ Proficiency in understanding plumbing drawings, specifications, and systems.
+ Experience with Bluebeam Revu PDF software.
+ Proficient with MS Office tools including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
+ Strong background in commercial plumbing systems, methods, codes, and materials.
+ Demonstrated expertise with Revit MEP and Navisworks.

Physical Requirements:
Physical requirements for this role include the ability to transition frequently between an office and a construction field setting. In the office, the individual must be able to sit for extended periods while working at a computer, performing repetitive tasks such as typing and using a mouse, and communicating by telephone. In the field, the individual must be capable of standing and walking for extended periods on various surfaces, including uneven terrain, and climbing stairs as required. The role also necessitates the ability to kneel, crouch, and crawl to view/inspect tight spaces, as well as lifting and carrying materials and equipment weighing up to 40 pounds. Good vision and hearing are essential for reading plans, inspecting work, and communicating on-site. The individual must also be adaptable to working outdoors in various weather conditions, adhere to site-specific dress codes, and comply with safety requirements by wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, gloves, safety glasses, and steel-toed boots. Flexibility to travel between job sites and work outside regular business hours when necessary is also required.
