Senior Digital Production Artist
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday; 8:30 am - 5:00 pm Location: In person role (not hybrid, not remote) SUMMARY This is a senior role responsible for setup of client artwork into a usable format for programming and printing. This position will require attention to detail and a creative eye to ensure every detail of client art is maintained as well as edits to artwork during variable population. They must be able work on all complex levels of work with minimal assistance. The Sr. Digital Production Artist must have good color acuity and be able to maintain color for digital print work as accurate as possible. This role requires color corrections by adjusting CMYK and/or Pantone builds to match to client demands. This role is also responsible for setup and editing letter texts/ graphics/fonts according to client’s instructions, using the client’s documents and mock-ups, in PC based software. Artwork must be built to function when programmed and this is attained using dummy data, variable text, variable images, and basic scripting for production jobs when necessary. This role will also be required to back up the managers administrative functions which include, but not limited to, scheduling, email traffic, running production meetings and production matrices. This role requires the ability to work in a fast paced, client driven work environment. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES + Follow priorities to meet deadlines + Converting files using various software packages to obtain the letter text or graphics. + Work on artwork and adjust files in both PC and Mac environments. + Ability to switch projects in a fast-paced work environment and maintain high level of quality. + Responsible for learning various software programs as required, in both Mac and PC platforms. + Follow client’s instructions to set letters to client specifications. + Follow checklist to double check all work. + Understanding of wide format printing, electrostatic printing and inkjet technologies. + Maintain communication with Account Services, Data Center, Print Services and Print Room to ensure all text is being created according to client needs and specifications. + Scan in documents and/or graphics when necessary. + Onboard and setup new clients and train down. + Collaborate with the Digital Print Engineer and Laser Room team to perform paper linearization and other support tasks. + Support color proofing, color management, and various color adjustments. + Work on all levels of complex work with minimal assistance. + Work with manager on SOP revisions, updates and/or process improvements. + Help train peers and new hires on daily processes, hardware and software. + Build Variable flows and scripts in jobs using dummy data. + Build Digital Prepress jobs, color proofing, copy checking and CMYK or PANTONE manipulation if necessary. + Keep manager/supervisor informed of activities and situations that will impact the achievement of corporate or department goals and objectives. + Backup to manager or scheduler which includes scheduling and work assignment as well as conducting meetings in absence of manager. + Assist in paper linearization and profile setups for digital operations as needed. + Conduct ink cost analyses consumption on all digital work to ensure profitability + Comply with company rules and regulations. + Maintain confidentiality of company-sensitive data. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE + High School diploma or equivalent required + 1 – 3 years’ previous work experience in a fast-paced production environment using various software programs required. + College level course work preferred COMPETENCIES + Detail oriented + Excellent verbal and written communication skills + Strong color acuity and print industry color theory + Creative and artistic + PC and Mac literate + Team oriented + Ability to work well with others essential in a fast-paced, production environment. + Commitment to high accuracy a must. + Customer Service friendly
