Job Description
As Senior Director, Data Science Omnichannel NBA, you would report to the Head, Data Science and Data Management. Based in NJ / CA, you would lead the Data Science function responsible for the development and scaling of omnichannel decision next-best-action engine to drive commercial execution, creating continuity in the customer experience across engagement channels and improving impact of commercial activities. The individual in this role will work closely with regional and global cross-functional partners across marketing, sales, commercial operations IT data enablement, IT machine learning operations, and other functions at Gilead and is expected to operate with a “one Gilead” mindset
The ideal candidate should be well-versed in data science techniques, methodologies, approaches, and tools, specifically machine learning algorithms as they are applied in recommendation systems. This individual must also have familiarity with predictive algorithms and their use in a commercial pharma setting. This individual will lead a team of 3-4 senior data scientists as direct reports and a large team of offshore junior data scientists.
Key Responsibilities:
Executive-facing technical lead for omnichannel next-best-action program to orchestrate customer touchpoints across HCP personal promotion, HCP digital promotion, and direct-to-patient tactics to drive engagement personalization at scale.Leads the Data Science team responsible for the development of the omnichannel decision engine across multiple geographies and brands, managing resources & timelines, identifying & mitigating risk, and mentoring & developing direct reportsLeads cross functional teams across internal (e.g. sales, marketing, IT, legal, compliance etc.) and external stakeholders (consulting partners, data vendors, marketing agencies).Fosters a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and operational excellence with a strong “data science as a product” mindsetIndustry leader and expertise in working on IQVIA and Symphony Claims, Komodo claims, Optum, Definitive health, Health Verity, EMR data, Lab Data.Distills the complexity of data science into actionable key insights with credibility.Keeps abreast of latest developments in the field and mentor and manage data scientists from external consulting partners to help design and develop the decision engine for Omnichannel NBAOff-shore vendor management to ensure development timelines are met and work product is delivered at the highest qualityBasic Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree and Fourteen Years’ Experience orMasters' Degree and Twelve Years’ Experience orPhD and Twelve Years’ ExperiencePreferred Qualifications:
Data savvy. Understands subnational sales data, longitudinal patient claims data, and other standard commercial pharma datasets.Understanding of marketing/digital data sources across personal promotion (e.g. in-person / virtual sales rep calls, samples etc.), non-personal promotions (e.g. email, direct mail, banner ads, website, mobile alerts), events (e.g. speaker program, conference), survey (e.g. online questionnaires etc.) and social data (e.g. Twitter, Facebook, Sermo, Doximity etc.)Thorough understanding of machine learning algorithms and predictive methodologies to construct robust propensity models for impact full commercial use casesExperience in building, implementing and using ML-based algorithms to advance our efforts in customer engagement.Having a product mindset to develop solutions and scale.Builds practical AI-based solution with proven business impact.Experience working and collaborating with sophisticated health systems.Deeply understands and has experience using AI and machine learning to drive Next Best Action efforts between marketing and salesStrong internal A&I network credibility within industry, and the ability to influence and align without direct reporting authority.Understanding of emerging capabilities in natural language processing, unstructured data, etc. and potential application in pharma/health careExperimentation and continual learning mindset.Leadership:
