The Role

Vogue is looking for a creative to ideate and execute new development projects and pilots as well as innovate on how to better improve the content that is already made. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of overseeing development and production in digital video (YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, FAST, etc.) and evaluating digital content in a variety of genres of relevance to Vogue’s audience as well as a strong understanding of what kinds of content will be engaging to large and diverse audiences. This role is not just for someone who wants to ideate, this person needs to enjoy being attached to a video from start to finish.

The Senior Director will work alongside other creative leads to expand the digital entertainment portfolio and drive creative innovation for Vogue Video globally to propel audience growth and engagement. This role will ensure that all Vogue Videos are delivered on time and to the highest standards.

Expectations for editorial quality, audience growth, and monetization are extremely high, developed and delivered in the forms of:

Original content for global digital platforms (e.g. O&O, TikTok, Instagram, FAST), with focus on premium, scalable quality across YouTube

Video franchises that transcend platforms and markets

Video support of live cultural events like The Met Gala and Vogue World

What will you be doing?

Dedicated to pilots, unique formats, concepts, and new ownable IP at Vogue, across our Global Network

Drive storytelling development and execution, bringing fresh perspective to the slate of content at Vogue

Facilitate cross-team brainstorms to ideate creative for every video opportunity, owning treatment creation

Generate ideas for new pilots, and serve as Director (when needed) to create high-quality and new high-impact IP from pre-production to post

For projects with high impact potential, direct production crews and talent for both studio and field pilot shoots, serving as a decisive, organized, director with a clear vision. 

When serving as Director on a project, establish and own processes that ensure creative excellence. In partnership with the production team, this includes accountability for the quality of the video execution, including the review, edit, and approval of preliminary and final treatments, outlines, shooting scripts, casting, production schedules, budgets, selects, graphics, music, rough cuts, fine cuts, final narration and final versions of all executed pilots

Create storyboards, mood boards, and creative treatments when appropriate, for new digital IP

Collaborate with Creative Optimization, translating data and insights into creative decisions at Vogue 

Who you are:

8+ years experience in the digital media space as a professional and capable leader with an inclusive style that garners respect and trust across stakeholders and team members

Established creative sensibility with an excellent track record of producing and overseeing execution of high-impact video content with massive reach

4+ years of experience directing videos, and managing production crews large and small. Experience with multi-camera setups and directing untrained, on-camera talent is required 

Extensive experience providing creative evaluation, advice, and feedback in all phases of production and development. Must have experience collaborating with video editors and solving complex creative issues in the early phases of video edits 

Soup to nuts experience in concept creation and execution of digital videos that have driven deep, organic engagement across multiple platforms

Extensive experience providing creative evaluation, advice and feedback

Knowledge of internet culture and digital video landscape (e.g. Instagram, TikTok, Snap, et.al), the unique elements of each video platform, and what makes particular videos successful on those platforms

Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize and meet deadlines, with proven experience collaborating with a team of creative producers and juggling multiple-projects at once

Strong interpersonal communication skills (written and oral) with an emotionally intelligent communication style

Successful experience navigating matrixed organizations 

Exhibit and set a culture of professionalism and results-oriented purpose
