Senior Director, Engineering, Autodesk Assistant

Position Overview 

Autodesk is on a journey to transform its business through the realization of our platform strategy and is seeking a Senior Director Engineering to help us in that journey. As our customers move their data and workflows into the Autodesk Platform, our ability to deliver a trustworthy solution becomes paramount. We must deliver a solution that our customers find dependable and performant, while simultaneously addressing security, privacy, and cost concerns. 

As a senior technology leader reporting to the Vice President, Analytics Data and AI/ML Platform, you will identify, assess, prioritize, and most importantly drive the projects through which we will achieve this outcome. You will play a key part in realizing Autodesk's platform vision around Autodesk Assistant and transforming multiple industries. 

You’ll work with teammates across the globe and will travel up to 15% of the time for face-to-face meetings like conferences, team offsites, and team visits. We prefer for this role to be hybrid to our San Francisco office or on the West Coast. If remote, the travel could be up to 25% travel.

Responsibilities

Ownership of Architecture, Engineering Execution, and Operations for Autodesk Assistant

Consulting and collaborating with stakeholders and other teams to adequately understand requirements for Autodesk Assistant and be responsible for product management/implementation

Hire and grow the team across multiple geos. (India, US and Canada)

Be responsible for engineering and operations excellence across all processes and systems

Be responsible for growing the Autodesk Assistant ecosystem both internally and externally

Have a vision around how Autodesk Assistant will keep up with the changing landscape in the agentic/co-pilot/plugin workflows

Establish Autodesk as an industry leader in the Assistant space

Minimum Qualifications

Highly technical systems thinker with 15+ years of big data and web services platform experience (APIs, front-end, backend, security, data, service, persistence layers, automated testing, etc.). 

5+ years of experience in managing and leading high performing global teams

Excellent verbal and written communications skills are a must have, as well as the ability to work effectively across internal and external organizations and virtual teams

Strong leadership, problem solving, communication, and influencing skills 

Ability to manage teams across multiple geographies

Experience with building machine learning systems and operating these systems at scale

Preferred Qualifications

An advanced degree in computer science, MIS, engineering, or related discipline  

Track record of managing teams of 3-4 scrum teams 

Experience in delivering software from conception to operations

Salary transparency

Salary is one part of Autodesk’s competitive compensation package. For U.S.-based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $220,100 and $355,960. Offers are based on the candidate’s experience and geographic location, and may exceed this range. In addition to base salaries, we also have a significant emphasis on annual cash bonuses, commissions for sales roles, stock grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.
