Position SummaryAs a Senior Director of Engineering, you will be responsible for leading and managing multiple departments including embedded, test, cyber security, systems and systems integration. Your expertise will be crucial in promoting the adoption and implementation of technical methods within various teams, helping STERIS to stay ahead of industry trends, best practices, and technological advances. You will identify opportunities to leverage innovation and technology to deliver competitive advantage. This role is responsible for cross-functional collaboration across technical domains including Marketing and Commercial teams.
*This position can be located onsite in Mentor, Ohio or Plymouth, Minnesota with an opportunity for a hybrid work schedule. Qualified candidates must live within or be willing relocate within commuting distance of Mentor, Ohio or Plymouth, MN.
What You'll Do as a Senior Director, Engineering Analyzing strategic projects and prioritizing accordingly. Lead, develop and implement technology and process improvements across departments to achieve STERIS technology objectives, accelerate software development and increase risk management effectiveness. Responsible to oversee the entire embedded software development lifecycle, from concept to deployment and maintenance. Lead, develop and implement systems and embedded technologies to ensure usability, scalability, quality and reliability and cybersecurity standards are achieved. Implement architectures, systems and process that interface with cloud products. Establishing design concepts and architectures, criteria and engineering/scientific efforts for product research, development, integration and testing Partner with other department leaders, management executives and R&D leaders to drive and improve our development process, prioritize projects and manage multiple products and projects. Responsible to build systems that adhere to highest engineering quality standards, applying your vision and expertise to set the bar on resiliency, scalability, efficiency, and performance while minimizing risk, maximizing output, and maintaining compliance with ISO and FDA standards. Representing the technical expertise in the perspective product lines and work with other functional units, electrical, mechanical, scientific, PMO, etc., to prioritize and deliver projects Engage with customers and partners, and interface with Customer Support and Professional Services to ensure a high quality experience throughout the software and product development cycle. Build a culture of rapid and agile development, innovation and collaboration, mentoring managers and individual contributors across the organization and build strong bridges with multiple internal and external stakeholders. Lead mentor, recruit, develop and retain talented engineers and managers to launch new products on time and support our existing products and technologies. The Experience, Skills and Abilities NeededRequired:
Bachelors degree in Electrical, Software Engineering or relevant computer science degree. 15+ years working in and leading systems engineering and/or embedded development teams, with at least three years at the Director level. Experience developing engineering strategy, building strong teams and executing. Experience leading teams developing electro-mechanical based products. Strong technical background with expertise in hardware and embedded design. Experience with agile development methodologies and tools. Metrics driven mindset with a focus on achieving key performance indicators. Experience implementing process and rigor around design. Ability to travel 10% domestically/25% internationally
Preferred:
Master's Degree preferred. Experience in Medical Device product development. Pay range for this opportunity is $132,750.00 - $198,975.00.This position is eligible for bonus participation.
Minimum pay rates offered will comply with county/city minimums, if higher than range listed. Pay rates are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to local labor market costs, years of relevant experience, education, professional certifications, foreign language fluency, etc.
