Leading with Purpose: Senior Director, Environmental Services
Role Overview
The Senior Director of Environmental Services (EVS) will provide strategic and operational leadership across MSK’s enterprise-wide shared services model. Service is at the heart of what we do , ensuring a safe, clean, and welcoming environment that empowers our patients, staff, and communities we serve .
Reporting to the Vice President of Support Services , the Senior Director will drive efficiency, effectiveness, and continuous evolution in EVS operations, aligning these efforts with MSK’s mission to end cancer for life while fostering a culture of inclusion, belonging, and employee engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
+ Develop and implement comprehensive operational strategies that align with MSK’s mission and enterprise-wide priorities.
+ Lead initiatives to standardize EVS processes, ensuring consistency and operational excellence across all MSK facilities.
+ Collaborate with senior leadership to integrate EVS objectives with organizational and patient care standards.
Operational Excellence
+ Oversee EVS operations to ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, safety standards, and best practices.
+ Focus on evidence-based environmental hygiene, waste management, infection prevention, and sustainability initiatives.
+ Utilize data-driven approaches to monitor and improve performance metrics against industry benchmarks, including patient satisfaction and operational efficiency.
+ Embed MSK’s commitment to exceptional service, delivering a positive patient and staff experience.
Team Development and Engagement
+ Lead, mentor, and develop a diverse team of EVS professionals, fostering a culture of accountability, process improvement, and collaboration.
+ Promote inclusion, belonging, and employee engagement through strategies that empower staff and create a supportive work environment.
+ Design and implement training programs and initiatives to recognize and retain top talent.
Financial Stewardship
+ Develop and manage the EVS budget, ensuring fiscal responsibility and alignment with MSK’s goals.
+ Identify opportunities for cost savings and operational efficiencies without compromising quality for patients or staff.
+ Negotiate vendor contracts and manage external service agreements to ensure cost-effective, high-quality service delivery.
Quality Improvement
+ Lead quality assurance programs to enhance environmental safety and overall operational outcomes.
+ Stay abreast of industry innovations and implement best practices to continually elevate EVS services.
+ Collaborate with clinical, research, and administrative teams to ensure seamless integration of EVS operations across the enterprise.
Key Qualifications and Core Skills
Experience
+ 10+ years of progressive leadership experience, including at least 3 years leading Environmental Services.
+ Strong preference for experience in an academic medical center or academic teaching hospital setting.
+ Proven ability to manage enterprise-wide EVS operations in a shared services model, encompassing both hospital and non-hospital environments.
Core Skills
+ Strategic Leader: Proven ability to align EVS operations with organizational goals, driving measurable outcomes.
+ Operational Expertise: Strong knowledge of environmental hygiene, infection prevention, and regulatory compliance.
+ Collaborative Leadership: Demonstrated success in leading, developing, and engaging high-performing teams while fostering inclusion and belonging.
+ Data-Driven Decision Maker: Skilled in leveraging analytics to assess performance, identify opportunities, and drive improvement.
+ Financial Stewardship: Expertise in budget management, cost optimization, and resource allocation.
+ Effective Communicator: Outstanding interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and consensus across diverse teams.
Additional Information
+ Location: This is an onsite role based at 1275 York Ave, with flexibility to visit our NYC and regional sites.
+ Pay Range: $193,800.00-$329,500.00; competitive base salary and bonus structure.
