An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Global Decision Sciences & Insights team for a Senior Director, Integrated Insights leading global PBC Forecasting & Analytics.

Gilead recently launched Livdelzi for the treatment of PBC in US and will launch in ex-US starting 2025.   This is an important launch as it builds upon Gilead leadership in liver and drives growth for the liver portfolio.   From commercial perspective, in addition to understand the evolution of the PBC market in US, prepare ex-US launches, the global commercial team is also responsible for planning for new clinical data to expand Livdelzi use for life cycle planning.   The candidate for the integrated insights role will work close with the global marketing team to conduct analytics/ forecasting to inform commercial decisions regarding PBC.   This candidate will also work closely with other PBC integrated insight team member who leads market research activities.   Specific job requirements are outlined below:  

The role will report to the Executive Director, Global Decision Sciences & Insights, Liver/ Inflam/ COVID/ Established products & Portfolio capability, who has responsibility for insights related to marketed and pipeline products/strategies in the associated therapeutic areas.

This is a site based role at our global headquarters in Foster City, CA.

Specific Job Requirements

Forecasting

                                                                    

Lead role to drive the inputs and assumptions for Livdelzi in both Latest Estimate (LE) forecasting guidance and Long range plan (LRP) forecastDevelop and maintain the global forecast model to reflect latest updates on market insights.   Proactive to identify opportunities to improve the model structure, pressure test assumptions, and develop approaches/ analytics to enhance the robustness of assumptionsAbility to assume full responsibility for accuracy and reliability of complex analyses with minimum oversightDirect off-shore team to execute model updates.   At the same time, expect to update model on his/her own in a timely fashionIntegrated insights generated from market research, patient journey work and other data sources to update the forecast assumptions for key forecast updates including but not limited to LRP, budget LE guidance, and any program strategic team decisions for clinical development decisionsCollaborate with local teams to understand the trends/ drivers for short term forecast assumptions.   Pressure-test local teams assumptions to ensure alignment and sharing of latest insights to drive consensus on assumptions with local business units directors and in some cases general managersCollaborate with global strategic marketing, global value & access to recommend LRP assumptions for PBC.  Be able to right size the forecasting approach with the balance between level of rigor, time and resources constraints, and business impactBe the methodology expert and be able to triangulate with various approach/ incorporate latest industry best practices to enhance the robustness of the analytics and recommendations Ensure objective, insight-based forecast is delivered and communicated with a broad cross-functional partners.   Navigate different perspectives and problem-solve to get to alignment on Livdelzi outlook opportunityBe able to communicate the forecast findings in an executive-ready approach with minimum oversight.   Focus on the recommendations, business implications, but at the same time, have the in-depth knowledge and ability to articulate the details as needed.  Be seen as a credible insights leader that can share objective insights and mobilize the organization to actions anchored on the insights developed.  

Commercial Analytics

Drive the development and execution of global commercial analytics.   Examples of analysis include but not limited to quantitative patient journey updates, patient profiling, specific claims/ patient data analytics to inform forecast assumptions updates. Ability to assume full responsibility for accuracy and reliability of complex analyses with minimum oversightOther examples of analytics can be business case development, profitability analysis, ROI analysis, analogue analyses, benchmark etc.  Direct off-shore team to execute analytics.   At the same time, expect to update model on his/her own in a timely fashion and pressure test the accuracy of the analytics behindLiaison with Data science teams to collaborate on predictive analytics works.    Be the business interpreter in any PBC data science projects.   Able to pressure-test data science approach and be a thought partner to elevate the quality of the deliverables.   Examples include but not limited to predictive analytics, marketing mix models, etc.  Liaison with data management team to identify PBC data needs.  Be fluent to understand and pressure test data source robustness, limitations, and drive decisions in collaboration with data management team on data purchase decisions.   Proactively identify data issues with data management team to ensure the appropriate business rules, data delivery approach address the analytics needsWork closely with GSMs to understand the business priorities and align on analytics needsBe able to proactive identify business knowledge/ insights gap even in times to have independent view, explore various options of analytics approaches, decide on what is the right approach based on time/ resources, business criticality, and level of rigor requirement before executionShare and gain alignment on commercial analytics insights to local teams (e.g., US forecasting, US analytics, local affiliates) to ensure insights are adopted and incorporated in executionBe able to communicate the analytics findings in an executive-ready approach with minimum oversight.   Focus on the recommendations, business implications, but at the same time, have the in-depth knowledge and ability to articulate the details as needed.  Be seen as a credible insights leader that can share objective insights and mobilize the organization to actions anchored on the insights developed.

Educated to degree level or aboveExtensive experience of forecasting and analytics in the pharmaceutical industry (a minimum of 8 years of relevant experiences)Experience in one or more of Gilead's core markets of liver diseases, inflammation, oncology and HIV preferred.Experience to support brand teams to drive growth strategy, preferably both local and global situations.  Experience in specialty markets and in-depth knowledge of sales and marketing organizations and pharmaceutical data sources, e.g. IQVIAKnowledge of MS Excel and business intelligence systems and tools, e.g., Microstrategy and Tableau to present quantitative data in graphical form is requiredExperience in patience-based market/revenue modeling is requiredKnowledge of and experience in forecast modelling techniques and the application to a particular business problem.Proven experience in developing and maintaining forecasts for similar products or therapeutic areas preferredPrior experience conducting, analyzing, and communicating qualitative and quantitative global market research is preferredPassionate about the function and a natural curiosity to seek the truth with objective data and insights, and to solve complex problems


 

The salary range for this position is: $261,375.00 - $338,250.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package. Benefits include company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans*.
