Role Description:

Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Managed Care Operations, the Senior Director of Managed Care Operations (Payer Relationships) leads a team responsible for a portfolio of health plan relationships and drives strategic department initiatives. In this role, they will be responsible for leading  core relationships and operations with health plan partners and managing a team of Sr. Managers, Managers and Associates to achieve strong performance together.  This involves development, socialization, and execution of a 3 year strategic plan for assigned health plans. contracting, ongoing contract administration and relationship management, resolving issues as they arise, and ensuring internal communication and transparency on where we are at regarding our health plan partners. The scope will include a subset of Oak Street's partnerships. In addition, this role will have oversight of driving strategic initiatives on behalf of the managed care operations team. Inherent to this oversight is curation of potential initiatives, impact analysis, and recommendation for prioritization.  


Core Responsibilities:

The Senior Director of Managed Care is responsible for the following leadership and administrative duties:

Team Leadership: Overseeing, developing and retaining a team of Managed Care Senior Managers, Managers, and Associates who support Oak Street and our payer partners day in and day out. The Senior Director will recruit and manage talented leaders and individual contributors ensuring succession planning and career pathing for their team. Owning Payer Partner Strategy:  Effective risk-based partnerships with Medicare Advantage plans are critical for Oak Street's success.  The Senior Director will foster these partnerships through relationship building efforts.  Additionally, the Senior Director will develop, socialize, and drive the three-year strategy for the plan partnership. They will drive excellence in performance through ensuring top-tier joint operating committees (JOCs) and ongoing ad hoc interactions.  Driving Economic Value for Oak Street Health: through the 3 year strategic plan, the Senior Director will drive continuous improvement in OSH contracts and health plan relationships through a deep understanding of deal dynamics. This necessitates close collaboration with Health Plan Finance and a strong understanding of financial concepts that affect deal economics.Development of Strategic Initiative Management and Operationalization: the Senior Director will curate strategic initiatives, lead impact analysis, and drive prioritization and execution on behalf of Managed Care Operations. Inherent to this responsibility is management of team members and collaboration within various departments of Oak Street Health. These departments included, but are not limited to, population health, data support, finance, clinical and field leadership, credentialing, revenue cycle management, and provider services.Organizational Strategy and Collaboration: The Senior Director will also support organization-wide planning and strategy including helping share the managed care perspective and expertise as needed for new site launch improvements, planning for & hiring staff, owning continuous improvement initiatives, and prioritizing SOP, BI development needs, and network management initiatives.   Drive Culture: At Oak Street, we foster a culture of innovation and open dialogue, and we work with urgency.
