Why is this role important?
Loblaw Companies Limited is currently seeking a Senior Director of Strategy to support the Marketing and Control Brands teams. This role is critical because it leads high profile strategic projects, quarterbacks our strategic planning process, acts as a thought-partner to senior leaders and recommends how the business will move forward.
This role is pivotal as it helps develop and drive major strategic initiatives. It will work closely with the SVP of Marketing and the Control Brands team. The role reports to the VP of Marketing & Brands Enablement and the ideal candidate will have a strong background in Corporate and Brand Strategy, with experience in a consulting firm or corporate strategy group and within a retail/services/manufacturing organization. The candidate must have experience leading strategy across a matrix organization with multiple stakeholders.
To be successful in the role, this individual will break down complex problems, develop hypotheses, influence and work with multiple stakeholders with a service-oriented mindset, manage cross-functional project teams, balance workload across multiple projects and competing priorities, and command strong analytical, communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. This person must be skilled in building narrative in presentation format and memos for C suite consumption.
What you’ll do:
Support the SVP of Marketing and the Control Brands team with crafting the narrative for Marketing strategy for both Board and internal stakeholder consumptionCollaborate with all Marketing executives to structure and solve strategic problems and develop compelling business cases. Lead and own projects, develop a point of view, and be accountable for analysis, insights, recommendations, and storytelling. Manage the Strategic Insights team, including directing key research projects and deriving insights to steer critical strategies for the departmentLead the annual strategic planning processManage stakeholder communications and relationships, project timelines with cross-functional teams, and present project insights & recommendations to senior executive audiences. Act as the key point of contact with internal and external stakeholders for specific analyses, and balance competing priorities with subject matter experts and executives.Does this sound like you?
5+ years of applicable experience in Strategy, ideally at a top-tier consulting firm or within corporate strategy5+ years business leadership in a consumer goods, services or retail company with direct responsibility for Business/Brand StrategyRelevant Bachelors and/or Masters degree(s) (e.g. Business Management, Engineering, Math, Economics, Finance), MBA an asset, but not required Demonstrated experience leading projects, managing cross-functional teams, and providing thought leadership, and managing senior stakeholders Strong written communication and presentation skills at C-suite level Advanced problem-solving and financial analysis / analytic capabilities Demonstrated ability to build effective and trustful relationships across organizations Confidence, maturity and credibility to interact with and present to senior-level business leaders internally and externally Business acumen in Retail, Food or Consumer Goods industries desirable Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, especially PowerPoint and ExcelHow you’ll succeed
