POSITION OVERVIEW

This is an exciting opportunity for a committed team player who is open-minded and possesses high potential. The role entails serving as the Sr. Director of the Program Management Office. This position is an integral part of the Newbuild department leadership team. This position will rely heavily on the ability to manage cross-functional teams and prioritize projects, derive strategic insights, and communicate findings and perspectives to all levels of the organization, including senior and executive management.

The Sr. Director reports to the AVP, Mission Control and is responsible for program management oversight of the Newbuild Program Management Office for RCI, CCI and SS project scope. This role is a key member of the Mission Control Leadership team and is responsible for all these areas through designated Managers, ensuring consistency of proven processes across projects. The Sr. Director proactively develops strategies, leads, oversees, and drives activities and direction of Managers and their assigned projects and resources. The selected candidate will play a pivotal role in advancing seamless collaboration and synergy between Miami, European leadership, and project teams, ensuring effective communication and alignment of shared goals.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Sr. Director of Mission Control operates with a significant level of autonomy, utilizing their expertise in project and program management. They leverage their comprehensive knowledge, skills, tools, and techniques to ensure the successful delivery of project outcomes, processes, and systems, exceeding the needs and expectations of stakeholders. Promotes a collective understanding of our vision and strategy, with a focus on delivering next class of ships and supporting leaders to purposefully embrace innovative approaches to work. Encourages collaborative thinking by facilitating the transformation of diverse perspectives into a unified team approach, leveraging the strengths of everyone. Elevates leaders' perspectives and empowers project teams to effectively manage tactical work. Creates a smarter, structured, and fulfilling environment, emphasizing the importance of efficient calendar management and fostering a culture of continuous preparedness. Proactively interfaces with project and program stakeholders, consistently examining project status, monitoring progress, resolving issues, and ensuring effective mitigation of any risks. Enhances stakeholder satisfaction with project-related work by improving communication, fostering collaboration, delivering effective training, and raising awareness in the organization. Directs highly productive meetings and workshops, employing group process and problem-solving methodologies, as well as utilizing various tools and techniques. They take charge of managing, driving performance, and successfully completing multiple parallel projects. Provides strategic implementation guidance to the project team. Regularly reviews and evaluates opportunities to improve best practices to achieve higher maturity of internal processes. Guides, mentor and provide overall direction to a team of Managers, Program Managers, Analysts, and Coordinators that are responsible for the day-to-day administrative and financial details of projects at various stages of development and execution. Improves and communicates PMO standards, provides strategic implementation guidance, regularly reviews opportunities to improve best practices, and establishes a centralized framework for project management guidelines, metrics, and templates, ensuring execution and communication of projects in alignment with corporate business objectives. Manages up, down, and across the organization to optimize outcomes and proactively contributes to a fun, learning, nurturing, motivating culture. Ensures efficient utilization of staff and non-labor resources with all projects. Remains current with industry trends, especially as related to contemporary project management techniques as they impact corporate objectives. Participates in succession planning, training, evaluation, and development for project team personnel. Drives the projects forward by ensuring consistent adoption of project methodology and best practices across our global network. Identify decision making needs and drive action inclusive of executive engagement. Performs other duties as required. FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Oversees creation and management of project budgets by Program/Project Managers for projects under their supervision. Strategize with financial management on economic feasibility analysis for project options and alternatives. Liaises with Program/Project Managers and financial support to ensure accurate monthly and quarterly forecasts, reporting and payments. Responsible for defining optimization opportunities to manage expenses.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s or master’s Degree with a concentration in Industrial Engineering, Project Management, Business Administration or related field. Experience: 9-12 program/project experiences, including 5+ years of experience leading a team. Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to develop and communication the Mission Control Transformation vision and inspire and motivate staff 5+ years of building or transforming a PMO team preferred Significant experience with project planning tools Lead Six Sigma (green belt or higher certification) and process improvement experience preferred

Strong leadership skills and proven experience in leading and developing a large team of professionals. Proven track record of leading teams in the development and implementation of continuous improvement methodologies and processes. Organized leader who sets clear goals and standards of accountability, who is not easily overwhelmed at the volume of transitional change, is resilient and comfortable with ambiguity. Clear and precise communication at all levels of the organization are essential. Excellent interpersonal skills, strength in communicating in a multicultural environment with all levels of employees and management. Excellent organizational and presentation skills. Software: Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Project required. Some travel required. Language Requirements: none Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, business periodicals, financial reports, legal documents, and government regulations. Ability to clearly and effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
