Location: Office-Based / Home-Based / Hybrid – Philadelphia or global

 

Position Summary:

Bentley is creating an open platform for the built and natural environment to empower software developers to build digital twin experiences. Cesium has more than 10,000,000 lifetime open-source downloads, and the Cesium ion cloud reaches more than 20,000 monthly active developers.

This senior leadership role reports to and collaborates closely with the Chief Platform Officer to advance open standards in the geospatial, infrastructure, AECO, and graphics industries.

 

Responsibilities:

In collaboration with the community, this role may be the facilitator and champion for open standards advancements, including:

 

Time-dynamic 3D models such as the change in a construction site over time Volumetric models for subsurface, undersea, and weather data Gaussian splats in a geospatial context Implicit surfaces for AECO models Stylized vector data at scale in a 3D geospatial context interoperable semantic metadata

 

This role will:

Collaborate with industry organizations such as the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC), Khronos, The Alliance for OpenUSD (AOUSD), buildingSMART, and the Metaverse Standards Forum Collaborate with technical subject matter experts and stakeholders across teams within Bentley and the industry.  This is a facilitator role intended to lead diverse groups to collective success; some technical knowledge is required, but this is not a domain expert role Assist in use case and open standards presentations; specification and schema writing; samples and validation creation; and coordinate activities and events with SDOs and across Bentley Support contributions to 3D Tiles, glTF, and other open standards

 

 

Requirements:

Has 15+ years of experience contributing to open standards with demonstratable examples of industry-leading contributions Is authentically committed to the collective success of the ecosystem; wants to advance it to grow the industry; and believes in a strategy where products compete on merit, not on vendor lock-in Is a fantastic communicator in person and in writing to a variety of stakeholders, including technical and non-technical audiences, and individual contributors and executives Has a proven track record of creating consensus among diverse groups and advancing stakeholder buy-in based on common interests Is transparent, has no hidden agenda, and demonstrates a high degree of emotional intelligence Successful personnel management and mentor experience for small teams Technical competence in computer science, computer graphics, geospatial, and/or AECO. May have written code or specifications in the past, but is not necessarily currently an active software developer Master’s degree preferred Hybrid in-person in Philadelphia is preferred; remote is also an option Purpose-based global travel may be about 25% Requires sitting or standing at will while performing work on a computer (or any other physical requirements).
