The Senior Director, Optum Rx Internal Communications is tasked with oversight, development and implementation of engaging, multi-channel, measurable internal communications plans and initiatives for the full Optum Rx organization, aligned to business priorities. Included in the scope are direct leadership of communications for the Optum Rx CEO and broader Optum Rx organizational communications impacting all employees, as well as oversight of business internal communications for both the PBM and Integrated Pharmacies organizations. This position serves as a senior strategic partner to leaders across the business to help shape and guide employee and executive communications. While not directly responsible for external communications for the business, this position works with Optum Rx external communications team members to ensure alignment with Optum Rx priorities and share news and information that may have relevance and applicability to external stakeholders.

Primary Responsibilities:

Develop a solid understanding of the Optum Rx business and stakeholders to provide sound strategic communications leadership and counsel Quickly learn and stay up to date on internal dynamics, positions and messaging, as well as the external environment, especially as it relates to pharmacy care services. This includes having the ability to understand complex issues and be able to describe them for audiences with varying levels of subject matter expertise Oversee development of content plans that utilize stories of impact and progress from across the business to ensure a continuous stream of new content that engages and inspires employees Cultivate and maintain solid working relationships with cross-functional internal partners across Optum Rx and the enterprise (e.g., Legal, Marketing, Digital, Social, People Team, etc.) Engage with peers across Optum, UHG and UHC communications to share best practices and build profile as a senior communications leader Use solid verbal and written communications skills to exercise influence, produce solid communications products and model and instill best practices across the team Identify opportunities to leverage internal channels and venues to educate and inspire an employee base with widely varying needs Use insights and identify key performance indicators to ensure communications programs achieve effectiveness expectations Oversee and develop team members to deliver on communications and key performance indicators and support them in their professional growth

Required Qualifications:

15+ years of experience as a strategic communications leader and advisor working with at least one of the following functional business areas: Communications, Public Affairs or Marketing Communications 8+ years of experience as an effective internal communications professional working in a fast-paced environment, coupled with a track record of success in driving employee engagement Knowledge of the health care industry Proven ability to counsel and advise senior leaders to deliver growth agenda and communications aims Proven excellent written and oral communications and proven innovative analytical and organizational skills Proven ability to demonstrate long-range strategic planning Proven highly motivated leader and team player with the ability to multitask and excellent time management skills

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
