Senior Director, Patient Care Services

maintaining quality patient care delivery, and promoting professional standards in accordance with hospital policy, Joint Commission standards, CMS conditions of participation, and other regulatory agencies. Consults with and advises the Chief Nursing Officer and physician leaders on activities related to clinical operations, quality improvement and risk management activities of the unit; implements changes in policy, programs and physical resources required to achieve hospital objectives. Accepts responsibilities as assigned by Sr. Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer.

GENERAL DUTIES

Operation:

Assists in the development and monitoring or operational, capital, and staffing budgets for assigned areas. Encourages effective cost-containment practices through management and staff development. Reviews and revises policies and procedures affecting the departments in compliance with Joint Commission requirements and scientific changes.

Standards of Care:
Participates in the development of written philosophy, objectives and goals for patient care services assigned that are compatible with the purposes and goals of the Hospital. Works to foster their accomplishment. Initiates and participates in the development, interpretation and implementation of standards of nursing practice, policies and procedures that guide the scope and conduct of patient care provided by the patient care staff. Fosters the participation of the patient care services staff in planning, implementing and evaluating care delivery. Coordinates and ensures evaluation of the quality and appropriates of patient care, assuming responsibility for corrective action when appropriate. Demonstrates the ability to coach/mentor staff leaders as necessary.

Human Resource Management:
Functions as professional role model and mentor. Provides leadership and management necessary to meet and/or contribute to hospital goals. Supports training of patient care services leadership (directors, managers, and clinical leaders) on knowledge and skills required to perform job roles competently in a high-change high technology environment. Supervisor patient care services leadership and assists team in evaluating their performance on basis of job description and attainment of established annual goals. Participates with the team in interviews and hires applicants for staff positions. Assists team in assessing staff turnover, absenteeism and morale. Responsible for counseling and disciplinary action with appropriate team input. Determines qualifications, retention, suspension and separation of staff in assigned area of responsibility. Responsible for assuring that these actions coincide with personnel and labor relations policies. Assists team in conflict resolution, and coaches staff in improving their own skills in conflict resolution.

Administration:
Plan and follow-up on Quality Improvement indicators. Lead and participate in committees related to project work. Prepare for and conduct hospital staff meetings. Leads research projects.

Secondary:
Serves as clinical resource to staff, physicians, and other hospital departments. Oversees assessment, plan formulation and implementation of education and certification programs which meet staff needs. Maintains membership in professional associations and attends meetings and seminars for professional. Growth and information on practices and subjects relevant to the Hospital. Maintains clinical competence and knowledge of current trends in area of specialty.

EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

5 years of experience Progressive supervisory, management or administrative capacities in a fiscal, human resources

Required: Bachelor's Degree
