Senior Director, Platform Engineering

As the Senior Director, Platform Engineering, you will lead the development, optimization and scaling of a robust, secure, and reliable platform to support HP’s connected ecosystem. You will be responsible for driving the strategic vision for platform architecture, tooling, and engineering excellence. This is a hands-on leadership role where you will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver modern, scalable, and technology-compliant platform solutions for HP’s Future Ready strategy. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

 

Strategic Leadership 

Define and execute the vision, strategy, and roadmap for platform engineering to align with business objectives. 

Stay informed of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to ensure the platform remains competitive and compliant. 

 

Team Management  

Build, mentor, and manage a high-performing platform engineering team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence. 

Establish clear performance goals, provide regular feedback, and support professional development for team members. 

 

Technology & Architecture 

Oversee platform architecture to ensure reliability, cost, scalability, and maintainability. 

Collaborate with software engineering, product management, Operations, and DevOps teams to design and implement API-driven architectures, microservices, and cloud-native solutions. 

Implement and leverage various AI platforms/tools to accelerate software engineering teams with code and test execution. 

 

Quality & Performance 

Drive initiatives to improve test automation frameworks and ensure robust quality assurance practices across platform development. 

Establish metrics and processes to measure, monitor, and optimize application performance and user experience. 

Ensure proactive identification, notification, and resolution of performance bottlenecks, system inefficiencies, and incidents. 

 

Operational Excellence 

Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor and optimize platform performance, uptime, and scalability. 

Partner with Operations team to manage cloud infrastructure budgets and vendor relationships, ensuring cost-effective and efficient operations. 

Risk and Compliance Management 

Ensure adherence to compliance requirements and relevant regulatory standards. 

Implement robust security measures, monitoring, and incident response processes. 

 

Requirements: 

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred. 

10+ years of experience in software or platform engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role. 

Proven expertise in designing and scaling cloud-based platforms. 

Strong understanding of microservices, API management, containerization and serverless architectures. 

Strong architectural abilities towards building a wholistic developer experience  

Experience in implementing and scaling test automation frameworks for enterprise platforms. 

Demonstrated expertise in application performance monitoring (APM), performance testing, and optimization. 

Track record of delivering enterprise-grade solutions with high availability and security requirements.

The base pay range for this role is $183,650 to $275,450 annually with additional opportunities for pay in the form of bonus and/or equity (applies to US candidates only).  Pay varies by work location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
