Senior Director, Talent and Learning
Job Description

Please note this is a Hybrid (3 days a week onsite) role in our Downtown Seattle location.

As the Senior Director of Talent & Learning, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and promoting Nordstrom's values, beliefs, and commitment to service. Collaborating with senior leadership, HR, and various stakeholders, you will develop and implement strategies that foster employee growth and ensure we have the necessary skills and capabilities to achieve our vision of helping people “feel good and look their best.”  This role also involves overseeing programs that enhance employee engagement, skill development, and retention, while ensuring effective performance management and succession planning. By fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture, you will contribute to the overall success of the organization.

This role requires the ability to develop and operationalize effective talent development and learning strategies and the capacity to influence and collaborate with business leaders. The candidate should have experience in leading high-performing teams and delivering large-scale programs that achieve positive outcomes for both employee experience and business results.

Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a tailored talent management and learning strategy that directly supports our business goals and enhances our organizational capabilities.Business Acumen: Gain a deep understanding of our retail operations, market trends, and business priorities to ensure talent initiatives are relevant and impactful.External Awareness: Keep abreast of the latest trends and best practices in talent management and learning & development, bringing innovative and practical solutions to our organization.Organizational Leadership: Lead and mentor a diverse team of professionals, fostering a collaborative, innovative, and high-performance culture.Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work seamlessly across various departments, building strong relationships with key stakeholders to ensure talent initiatives are integrated and aligned with overall business strategy.Program Development: Design and execute comprehensive talent management and learning programs that boost employee engagement, skill development, and retention.Performance Management: Oversee a fair and effective performance management process that drives individual and organizational success.Succession Planning: Develop robust succession planning strategies to ensure leadership continuity and organizational resilience.Metrics and Reporting: Establish clear metrics and reporting systems to evaluate the effectiveness of talent management and learning initiatives, driving continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, related field or equivalent experience.Fifteen+ years of progressive experience in talent management, learning & development, or related fields, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role.Advanced program management skills, with a track record of operationalizing and scaling programs for large, diverse populations.Strategic talent acumen as it relates to driving high performance, and identifying and accelerating employee growthStrong communication and influence skills with proven ability to persuade skeptical stakeholdersStrong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making and measuring program effectiveness.A proven track record of successfully working as a business partner with a senior management team, building trusting and effective relationships with leaders across the enterpriseExperience managing and developing a team, implementing programs that attract and develop talent and organizational capabilitiesDemonstrate commitment to advancing a culture of belonging

Pay Range Details

The pay range(s) below are provided in compliance with state specific laws. Pay ranges may be different in other locations.

Washington: $180,000 - $290,000 Annually

This position may be eligible for performance-based incentives/bonuses. Benefits include 401k, medical/vision/dental/life/disability insurance options, PTO accruals, Holidays, and more. Eligibility requirements may apply based on location, job level, classification, and length of employment.
