The Senior Director will lead all aspects of these efforts in a manner that increases external support for the Incubator, generates revenue to establish and ensure QI sustainability, and enhances its reputation and visibility regionally, nationally, and internationally. To accomplish this, the Senior Director will serve as a bridge between Colorado's university entrepreneurship and innovation (E&I) enterprises and the broader regional and national quantum ecosystems. The director will rally external enthusiasm, engagement, and additional support. Developed through a collaboration between the Colorado School of Mines, Colorado State University, and the University of Colorado Boulder (R1 Consortium), and in support of the Elevate Quantum coalition, the QI aims to accelerate the development and commercialization of quantum technologies, bolstering U.S. economic and strategic security. By offering shared resources and facilities, the QI will support early-stage translational research, enabling quantum researchers to move their innovations to higher technology readiness levels (TRL) alongside start-ups and established companies. The QI will be overseen by a 501(c)(3) nonprofit entity (Nonprofit) with a board of directors founded and anchored by the R1 Consortium (Board of Directors). We seek to embody CU Boulder's dedication to exemplify excellence through diversity by creating a welcoming and inclusive environment, enhancing the success and inclusion of all students, staff and faculty, and deepening our ability to share and engage with diverse perspectives. **What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be** **Develop, lead, promote and attract external support for QI programs and activities** The Director shall, subject to the direction and supervision of the Chair of the Board, the President and the Board of Directors, (i) be the chief operating officer of the corporation with general responsibility for all day-to-day operations of the corporation; (ii) propose, prepare and present to the Chair of the Board, the President and the Board of Directors specific programs and activities that will further the corporation's purposes; (iii) direct and supervise the implementation of the programs and activities approved by the Chair of the Board, the President or the Board of Directors; and (iv) perform all other duties and responsibilities as from time to time may be assigned to the Director by the Chair of the Board, the President or the Board of Directors. These duties include, but are not limited to: + Collaborate with members of the regional quantum ecosystem to ensure alignment of initiatives, resources and workforce development strategies that support the development of partner client entrepreneurs, innovators and companies. + Develop and communicate a compelling strategic plan for sustainable operations of the facility and its initiatives. + Grow the number of partner client ventures and develop programs for sustaining growth with measurable outcomes. + Work with internal and external partners, including regional universities, the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade (OEDIT), the Elevate Quantum consortium, and national and international quantum companies to ensure the QI reaches sustainable operational status. + Create a compelling shared vision and corresponding narrative on how the regional quantum community benefits from a strong ecosystem of collaboration, entrepreneurship, innovation & design. Consistently communicate and update that vision internally to the campus community and externally to relevant local, regional, national, and international audiences. + Identify and pursue external funding opportunities to fund and advance QI operations (industry partnerships, private foundations, private donors, government, etc.). **Management, Communications, and Logistics** + Manage the operations of the QI facility to ensure applicable resources for users and tenants. + Hire, supervise, support, and encourage applicable staff. + Be responsible for the financial administration of the QI entity including co-creation and management of the budget, supervising prudent use and maintenance of real and personal property assets, creation of financial models, and identification of important metrics to monitor and inform strategic direction. + Prepare reports and give regular updates to the directors at meetings of the Nonprofit board, including financial statements, high-level CRM updates, reports from operations, and supporting critical metrics. + Communicate progress to the Board of Directors, collaborators, donors, external partners, and the public as appropriate. + Monitor national and regional trends related to quantum and quantum-related entrepreneurship, innovation & design, and communicate significant news and events to partner communities in a way that builds trust and adds new value. + Lead all aspects of the implementation of QI marketing and communications initiatives and strategies, including the launch of a new website; provide continuous oversight and supervision to ensure that the brand and messaging is prudently maintained and updated in collaboration with the Board of Directors. + Ensure applicable office and safety compliance, including laser safety protocols, with applicable rules and regulations. **External Relations, Partnerships, and Promotion** + Promote and increase the internal, national, and international recognition of the successes, impacts, and significance of QI activities. + Engage people and organizations in the Boulder community, the state of Colorado, and beyond to help promote the Incubator's brand, vision and strategic plan. + Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with entrepreneurial-focused organizations at other front-range universities and colleges such as CU Boulder, CU Denver, University of Denver, Colorado State University, Red Rocks Community College, as well as at national laboratories and other national universities and institutions. + Attend Colorado and Mountain West events to build a network of individuals and organizations interested in beneficial collaboration with the QI. + Collaborate with university innovation units to actively help, and guide teams interested in establishing startups directed to commercial or social entrepreneurial opportunities. **What You Should Know** + This position offers a hybrid work modality with both on-site and remote work hours. **What We Can Offer** The annual hiring range for this position is $160,000 - $205,000.
