Market Access is a strategic pillar within Melinta; ensuring the company’s products are valued and accessible to patients. The Senior Director, Trade Relations role plays an essential function ensuring solid business relationships with trade accounts that translate into a high level of customer service, including streamline customer ordering, product availability and timely product delivery. This role is responsible for the strategy and tactical execution of trade, distribution, and channel strategy for all Melinta products in various lifecycle stages, inline, new product launches and at end of exclusivity. This role reports directly to the VP, Market Access and requires close collaboration with Finance, Supply Chain, Quality, Customer Service and Legal.
Duties and Responsibilities
Develops and maintains senior level business to business relationships with trade accounts and conducts quarterly business reviews to ensure trade contract performance against key metricsServes as single point of contact for trade account, including 3PL, focused on monitoring the performance of trade vendors, issue resolution, continuous process improvement leading to optimal customer service.Responsible for monitoring and ensuring that all buying customer orders are processed in a timely and efficient manner.Responsible for timing and accurate Trade notifications, including direct list price notifications and contract pricing notification in coordination with the Market Access Pricing and Contracting team. Proactively seeks to minimize wholesaler pricing load errors.Executes notifications to all pricing compendia, e.g. First Data BankLeads the development and implementation of account plans for all trade channels across all trade channels including wholesalers, specialty distributors, and retail pharmacies.Monitors 852 and 867 data to identify risks and opportunities. Works to monitors optimize key trade performance metricsDevelop trade distribution agreement strategy, effectively negotiates, and implements agreements, including contract financial analysis, contract language alignment and clear business case rationale presented to strategic pricing committeeCollaborates with Supply Chain and external trade accounts to maintain appropriate inventory levels and effectively communicates internally and externally regarding product availability Communicates proactively with team members, internal and external partners regarding orders and product availabilityMaintain and monitor adherence to policies and standard operating procedures related to trade function, for example, product returns, ordering processes, shortages and inventory management. Responsible for monitoring compliance with all trade related policyMaintains state distribution licensesRepresents Melinta at key trade conferences to continue to build and maintain relationship, understand emerging trends in the channelDevelops distribution model for new product launches and continuously evaluates changes in market dynamics (competitive, regulatory, etc.) Trade subject matter expert in supporting new product launches and product acquisition due diligence
Education/Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree required; advance degree preferred.10+ years relevant pharmaceutical market access experience with a minimum of 5 years in a recent trade relations roleDemonstrated success developing and negotiating distribution service agreementsThis position requires approximately 50% travel to customers, industry conferences and Melinta meetings.
