Senior Director, U.S. Retail Compliance
**Job Description:** Job Summary The Senior Director U.S. Retail Compliance assumes a strategic leadership role in the oversight of Walgreens compliance strategies and program for retail products and the corporate functions (e.g., Corporate Social Responsibility, Marketing and Merchandising), which includes providing compliance guidance for business initiatives, overseeing an effective compliance program, risk assessment, vendor management, policy management, monitoring and reporting, education and communication, and supporting regulatory audit inquiries. This role reports directly to the WBA Global Chief Compliance and Ethics Officer and will have a strong working relationship with other senior leaders. The successful candidate will either have compliance program experience or a deep understand of the Walgreens and/or general retail operations along with a firm understanding of relevant laws, regulations, and regulatory bodies and compliance requirements and risks. Must be able to lead a multi-faceted team and provide compliance guidance to cross-functional leaders. Ensures the organization's ongoing compliance with federal and state regulatory requirements, internal policies and procedures, and compliance training and education. Job Responsibilities + Provides strategic leadership over the U.S. retail business including Walgreens and Boots Retail U.S.A. compliance program, including direction, oversight, and support for compliance-related initiatives relating to the sale and marketing of retail products and corporate function activities , and integration of compliance activities into business operations. Collaborates with key leaders and various work groups to ensure organizational compliance initiatives are implemented. Partners with senior executives to help identify, manage, and mitigate compliance risks in existing and emerging retail products areas, providing creative solutions to meet business objectives and address complex regulatory requirements. Provides the business with compliance direction that bridges legal and regulatory requirements to practical decision making and execution of business objectives in a compliant manner. Prepares and presents reports for senior leadership, the Board of Directors / Audit Committee, compliance committees, and business units. + Oversees the enhancement of compliance program elements to address risks specific to retail pharmacies and retail products business areas. Oversees compliance monitoring, measurement and reporting program and any necessary corrective actions. Participates in the enterprise-wide compliance risk assessment; ensures a compliance plan is in place to address priority risks identified. Provides guidance to leadership across the organization in developing policies, procedures, and practices that are compliant with the relevant state, federal, and licensure requirements (e.g., liquor licenses). Establishes and maintains dialogue with regulatory agencies, business leaders, and other stakeholders to effectively communicate compliance program developments. + Leads the development of written standards, systems, practices and processes to ensure + effective ongoing compliance review of front-end retail changes and strategic corporate initiatives. Oversees and provides strategic direction on risk assessments and audits within the organization to measure compliance with state and federal laws and regulations, and accreditation standards. Partners with quality and process improvement leaders to support accreditation, licensure and contract compliance. Works closely with Legal and various operational areas to monitor and evaluate departments’ compliance with law, licensure requirements, and internal policies and rocedures. + Collaborates with other corporate functions, and when required, directs compliance activities to appropriate channels for investigation, resolution and works collaboratively to mitigate potential compliance risks. Consults with subject matter experts on compliance legal issues and implements processes to provide timely notification to business unit management of statutory, regulatory or policy changes. + Partners with the U.S. Privacy team to ensure compliance with laws, regulations and industry standards governing U.S. digital advertising and marketing functions including state privacy and Artificial Intelligence laws. + Partners with the International Compliance Officer to oversee the corporate compliance program of Boots Retail U.S.A. (BRUSA) + Develops and oversees the implementation of processes, and policies that have significant impact upon the organization. + Develops short- and long-range compliance program strategies and plans. + Manages a team of compliance subject matter specialists. Ensures the ongoing training and development of direct reports.
