Senior Director -Drug Substance Network Capital Procurement

The Senior Director, Drug Substance Capital Procurement in the Development & Manufacturing Procurement organization supports the Global Facilities Delivery organization to design, construct, & qualify new facilities and modify existing facilities for the Drug Substance network in the Manufacturing organization by providing strategic sourcing, supplier relationship management, and contracting in support of their business objectives.

Drug Substance Capital Procurement is responsible for the acquisition of engineering, automation, equipment and construction by leading category-based procurement strategies, supplier selection, contract negotiations, & supplier relationship management with key global suppliers, as well as, providing account management to ensure alignment between Procurement and its business partners.

Key Objectives:

Lead the Drug Substance Capital Procurement team’s sourcing efforts through all project delivery phases to build a cost-effective resilient supply chain that supports the delivery of the development pipeline and expansion of the scale & volume for commercial manufacturing portfolio to meet corporate objectives.

Coordinate of sourcing activities across engineering, construction, equipment, and automation categories for the Drug Substance network and with adjacent categories. Contribute as a member of project steering committees to help address commercial issues and remove barriers.

Learn and understand your business clients, their strategy, key levers that enable their success, and how Procurement can best engage to achieve their success. Lead the commercial effort for capital projects on (1) Procurement and Contract management, (2) Scope and Change management. (3) Cost and Financial management and Risk and Issue management.

Provide procurement expertise through your team on (strategy, sourcing, negotiation, contracting, relationship management, risk management, etc.), project prioritization, and business alignment to enable the completion of team activities in an efficient and effective manner which also appropriately supports work life balance.

Influence, review, and exercise authority to commit responsibilities to ensure that all transactions are FRAP compliant, recommendations to contract are appropriate networked with functional leadership, Finance & Procurement leadership, and ultimate ATS/C approvers.

Achieve team performance targets for savings, diverse spend, inflation management, implementation of guided buying, supplier consolidation, and supplier risk management, etc.

Develop capital procurement project leaders and other team members through coaching, training, development plans, and new experiences to facilitate higher levels of performance and efficiency, cross-team/category collaboration, broader individual capabilities, and a team of engaged well qualified resources that can fill future openings for leaders and individual contributors.

Engage in internal (organizational & functional) and external governance activities to exert procurement influence, provide commercial leadership, ensure collaborative relationships, and establish appropriate execution strategies, and demonstrate strategic problem solving.

Ensure category strategies are robust, supplier relationship management is regularly conducted, contractual relationships are current & well documented, and supplier risk management activities are appropriate for market conditions & business objectives.

Provide leadership to the broader Development & Manufacturing Procurement team including team strategy, enable development of team members through coaching and mentoring, and engagement with adjacent functions.

Basic Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in scientific, engineering, business, supply chain, procurement or other professional field.Minimum of ten years Capital Project Procurement sourcing related experience/rolesQualified applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Additional Preferences:Experience delivering large capital projects, > $1B in valueDemonstrated mastery of core sourcing skills – account management, category and supplier strategy development, spend analysis, sourcing, negotiation, and supplier relationship management.Previous procurement sourcing experience with demonstrated strategic business results, influential internal & external leadership interactions, and collaborative supplier relationships.Demonstrated ability to mentor, coach, or lead teams.Excellent verbal and written communication skillsExperience building relationships, influencing, and working effectively without formal reporting relationships.Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPointPrior pharmaceutical capital sourcing experience.Prior leadership/supervision experience.Experience managing major third-party relationships including selection, contracting, governance, and problem resolution.Experience and knowledge of cGMP manufacturing environment

Other Information:This is a full-time position located in Indianapolis, IndianaFlexibility to support sites in multiple time zones is required.Travel percentage: 5-10%, international travel required.
