Senior Director Electrical Engineering
**Job Summary** The Senior Director Electric Engineering owns the execution of the strategy for the Electric Engineering team within NiSource including asset and risk management, transmission and distribution engineering, transmission and distribution system planning, and generation (Fossil/Renewable) engineering. Accountable for safety, reliability, and affordability across the lifecycle, from planning/design through field execution. **Essential Functions** + Develops and drives holistic strategic vision for the Electric Engineering segment. + Provides strategic vision, direction, and performance monitoring to Senior Leadership, Executive Board, and other management teams. + Serves as an internal and external industry expert for Electric Engineering. + Overall responsibility for regulatory strategy/testimony. + Directs asset class owners through increased focus on risk identification and risk reduction strategies. + Overall responsibility for accurate and timely design to support construction efforts + Ensures that asset risks inform yearly capital and O&M plans, through risk-informed mitigation strategies. + Overall responsibility for system planning. + Drives the ongoing review of asset related risks within all asset classes including; risk identification, risk review and evaluation, and risk mitigation efforts. + Responsible for identifying the right work to improve the condition of electric assets, while supporting the risk-informed integrated planning process. + Manages those who are responsible for knowing company electric assets, understanding threats, developing a rigorous methodology to rank risk and associated threats, understanding available methods to mitigate risks and identify mitigation measures at NiSource to execute work effectively and efficiently. + Ensures overall quality control of Electric Engineering related work. + Collaborates and communicates effectively with planning organizations, State Organizations, and Engineering partners. + Ensures compliance to applicable codes, practices, industry best practices and benchmarks within and outside of the electric industry for continuous improvement efforts. + May be called to act as expert witness for the company on electric operations safety and execution topics. + Leads diverse team of qualified individuals with authority to hire, terminate, promote, demote, coach, develop and performance manage. + Perform all other duties as assigned. **Required Qualifications For Position** + Bachelor's Degree Engineering or Engineering Technology Degree from an ABET accredited program or Equivalent + 10+ years Utility management experience, leading an engineering function preferred + Proven experience leading a multi-faceted segment of an organization + Comprehensive knowledge of electric utility, field operations and jurisdictional regulatory frameworks + Ability to build strong relationships with key stakeholders internally and externally + Ability to drive process improvement through tool/technology improvements and other mitigation programs + Proactive in collaborating and leveraging interpersonal skills + Strong communication skills both written and oral + Deep analytical skills to understand data collection requirements, analyze and interpret data trends, and inform data driven understanding of risk in the asset class + Comprehensive knowledge and experience in planning (Capital & O&M) and the downstream impact on sustainable business operations + Ability to forecast requirements and plan according to foreseen risks and contingencies + Ability to build strong relationships with key stakeholders internally and externally + Ability to monitor and drive continual improvement in meeting asset class KPIs + Valid driver's license + Must be willing to work out of the Merrillville, IN office. **Preferred Additional Qualifications for Position** + Master's Degree Business + Professional Engineer (PE) License + PMP **Physical Demands** + Standing - Occasionally + Walking - Occasionally + Sitting - Constantly + Lifting - Rarely + Carrying - Rarely + Pushing - Rarely + Pulling - Rarely + Climbing - Rarely + Balancing - Rarely + Stooping - Rarely + Kneeling - Rarely + Crouching - Rarely + Crawling - Rarely + Reaching - Rarely + Handling - Occasionally + Grasping - Occasionally + Feeling - Rarely + Talking - Constantly + Hearing - Constantly + Repetitive Motions - Frequently + Eye/Hand/Foot Coordination - Frequently + The preceding description is not designed to be a complete list of all duties and responsibilities required of the position. **Work Authorization** Authorized to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship. **Inclusion & Diversity** Value inclusion within your day to day responsibilities by respecting others perspectives/convictions, engaging others opinions, creating a safe environment where people, ideas, and opinions are valued within your Team/Customers and external partners.
