Senior Director Global Category Leader, Chemicals, Plastics and Plastic Components (CPC) (m/w/d)
**Summary:** The Global Category CPC reports to the Head of Product Procurement and is accountable for a large range of plastic and base material (Chemicals, resins etc) and plastic molded items from a geographically dispersed supplier base. The category has a major cost base (circa 700M+ Euros) influence on the Manufacturing Product Cost. This supply is increasingly being provided by global players in the plastics and chemicals industries. The role holder will partner closely with the design and manufacturing teams as well to identify and source a range of materials that support the timely, quality and to cost target supply of produced items. The GCL will ensure OTIF capabilities with selected suppliers, meeting FMCs quality standards and to the cost targets agreed by personal delivery and that of a team of up to 10 globally dispersed category managers they lead. This is a key leadership role managing team of 9 senior category managers spread across the world **Tasks:** Critical to FMC business, our reputation and our patients is the high quality and reliable supply of the consumable devices (Dialyzers, Bags, tubing systems) FMC produce and supply all around the world. The portfolio includes a legacy range which needs to be continually supported as new features are added or components swapped out and an exciting new range leveraging some of the best technology available from some of the leading companies is introduced. As the GCL CPC you are accountable for the supply of either base material for use in our 40+ plants to produce injection moldings and/or bags and/or dialyzers. You lead a team of circa 10 category managers and between you, you manage circa 7--800M € of global spend related to materials and tooling (molds etc) for the robust, quality supply into FMC sites. To do this effectively you partner closely with value streams, the supply chain function and the production plants ensuring the appropriate choice of suppliers and contracting/supply strategies are in place to meet the business needs. Given FMCs global footprint and the logistics costs involved in shipping large quantities of material there is a need to explore the best locations in the world to supply these items from to support the future manufacturing and supply footprint of Fresenius Medical Care. The holder of this role: + Is a member of the Product Procurement Leadership Team and reports to the Head of Direct Procurement + Manages an annual and growing spend in the region of 7-800M Euros + Is based at or near to one of our locations inL’abresle (France), St Wendal or Bad Homberg (Germany) + Is fluent in English and ideally speaks German + Has a deep set of leading procurement experiences in the categories mentioned ranging from category management through strategic sourcing to supplier relationship management + Has successfully operated in a global matrix environment + Accepts end to end accountability for the satisfactory performance of first to last mile i.e. supplier selection to supplier delivery + Has routinely applied automotive ways of procurement i.e. clean sheets, index based contracts, contracts with continual improvement clauses, DFC/DFM + Manages a team of globally dispersed category managers, each with a similar remit as above albeit on a narrow scale + Partners closely with the following additional teams + The Technical Procurement team who act as the gateway of product moves, adds and changes + The Supplier Engineering team who work with suppliers to optimize their processes to reduce costs + The Procurement Operations team who manage the last mile of order placement and delivery/payment management at plant level + The other category leaders to ensure an end to end design approach is being considered in our category approach + The Procurement Centre of Excellence to access data and analytics, contract support, market intelligence and risk assessments As the leader of this team you are constantly curious about new technologies and how these can be applied, a natural leader or people with excellent people skills and able to comfortably engage from shop floor to c level. You are globally culturally attuned having either lived or worked extensively across the globe. You are organized and outcome focused and relentless in your pursuit for the best outcome to meet the requirements asked of you. A natural team player you can provide support and guidance easily and freely beyond your own are of focus and are recognized as true enterprise thinker and leader. **REQUIREMENTS:** + Degree educated in a business, Science or Engineering degree. ideally member of professional procurement organisation eg CIPS, ISM etc . MBS highly beneficial + Minimum 10 years in managerial positions within Procurement or Technical Project Management roles + Globally experienced and ideally has lived and worked in more than one continent + Proven leadership (not just management) experience: Independently can create a compelling vision and can inspire a team / organization to deliver against this + Compelling engagement, communication and presentation skills. Is comfortable engaging and influencing at C suite kevel + Excellent organization sills and able to deal comfortably with competing priorities + Agile and confident dealing with ambiguity, doesn’t need all the facts to proceed / make a decision + Outstanding coach of others + Expert level application of leading procurement practices eg Category management, supplier relationship management, strategic sourcing. Is a highly competent practitioner and can coach others + Outstanding project management skills + Outstanding financial acumen – able to interpret P&L and balance sheets and independently create compelling business cases + MS suite including: PPT, word, excel and ms project + Solid skills with excel tools such as pivot tables + Business Objects/tableau experience a plus + English (Fluent), German (advanced level preferred) + Flexible working hours need to cover global timezones + Must be willing to travel up to 20% of their time
