Senior Director - Head of Social Media Strategy, Global Communications

We're looking for a Senior Director - Social Media Strategy to revolutionize PepsiCo’s enterprise social media presence and transform our corporate channels into powerful engagement engines that drive business growth and strengthen our global reputation. This role presents an opportunity to shape how one of the world’s most recognized brands connects with millions of stakeholders across digital platforms. This position requires a highly skilled strategist and inspiring leader who will build and mentor a high-performing team while fostering a social first-mindset throughout our organization. You’ll establish comprehensive frameworks, governance models, best practices and processes that scale across our global business, while driving a data-driven approach to content strategy and audience engagement. The successful candidate will be a sophisticated social media strategist and digital communicator, with a proven track record of leading enterprise-level initiatives in complex, global organizations. You should possess deep expertise in social analytics, content optimization, and platform-specific engagement strategies. You should also have deep experience managing social media through periods of rapid change and crisis situations. Most importantly, you’ll need demonstrated success in developing innovative social campaigns that deliver measurable business impact and have experience influencing senior stakeholders and driving significant organizational change. Responsibilities Direct day-to-day management of corporate social channels, including content development, community management, paid social strategy, and performance optimization Build and manage team of highly creative, agile, and responsive social media specialists to deliver industry-leading engagement Develop comprehensive social media governance models and playbooks from the ground up, including crisis management protocols, influencer/creator standards, executive social presence guidelines, cross-brand content sharing frameworks, and approval workflows across markets and functions Create and implement scalable best practices for content creation, community management, and crisis response Collaborate with the Data & Analytics team to build social media analytics infrastructure and reporting framework, establishing standardized KPIs, measurement methodologies, and executive dashboards to demonstrate business impact and inform strategy optimization Establish best-in-class social listening program to surface real-time insights, identify emerging trends, and inform corporate narrative development and issues management Design and launch PepsiCo's corporate social media editorial process, including content calendars, asset management systems, and collaboration models with key stakeholders Work in partnership with the Influencer CoE on brand safety and governance for influencer channels Stay informed of the latest social media related trends and best practices and upskill broader Communications and Corporate Affairs organization Collaborate cross-functionally within the organization to ensure necessary governance is in place to run social media programs and mitigate reputational risk Compensation and Benefits: The expected compensation range for this position is between $151,200 - $300,000 Location, confirmed job-related skills, experience, and education will be considered in setting actual starting salary. Car allowance Qualifications Skills / Capabilities Experience successfully managing multiple direct reports and leading professional teams Ability to navigate in a highly matrixed organization and work collaboratively with others, both internally and with agency/platform partners Experience and strong understanding of the social media marketing landscape and growth of creator/influencer marketing Experience influencing senior stakeholders and driving organizational change in a large, multi-faceted company Proven experience micro-targeting highly specific audiences on a variety of platforms via paid media Familiarity with a variety of social media analytics tools and content publishing platforms Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders, up to the highest levels of the organization Expert level experience with social and influencer platforms like Meta (including Threads), TikTok, Twitter, LinkedIn and YouTube Exceptional communication skills (written and verbal) Experience working within CPG Food and Beverage industry preferred, but not required Collaborative attitude with strong interdepartmental communication skills Ability to work under pressure in fast paced environment Self-starter with eagerness to learn and grow in the social media space Advanced understanding of marketing strategy and ability to develop social media marketing tactics that deliver on brand objectives Creative thinker who can bring a brand voice to life across a variety of social media touchpoints Ability to tell a story, synthesize and convey key messages in a dynamic and compelling way (both externally to targeted audiences and internally to key stakeholders) Entrepreneurial mindset – willingness to roll up your sleeves and get creative with their team A fun-loving spirit, and a love of fostering successful culture as well as delivering results Education / Certifications Minimum Qualification: Undergraduate Degree Preferred: Concentration in Marketing, Communications and/or New Media preferred Work Experience At least 15 years of professional strategic and tactical multi-channel marketing and/or social media communications experience EEO Statement Our Company will consider for employment qualified applicants with criminal histories in a manner consistent with the requirements of the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and all other applicable laws, including but not limited to, San Francisco Police Code Sections 4901-4919, commonly referred to as the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance; and Chapter XVII, Article 9 of the Los Angeles Municipal Code, commonly referred to as the Fair Chance Initiative for Hiring Ordinance.
