General Summary:

Directs the activities of the Admissions Office, to include intake and referrals to inpatient services of the Towson and Baltimore Washington hospital locations, and Towson campus urgent assessment services. Supervises leadership of the following areas:  Admissions, Intake, Psychiatric Urgent Care. Monitors and reports trends and issues that impact admissions and patient days. Builds and maintains effective relationships with area acute care hospitals to facilitate admissions and transfers. Manages department budget and supervises assigned staff. Assesses opportunities to build relationships with outside hospitals.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

Work requires a professional knowledge of psychological and psychiatric illnesses and treatment modalities and program management - acquired through one of the following combinations of experience and education;

Master’s degree plus 3+ year’s post-Master’s experience or;

Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of relevant post-degree experience.

Must have comprehensive knowledge of and experience with:  human resource management; department leadership; clinical assessment and triage, medical and mental health-related community services; Microsoft Office applications; electronic patient registration and billing systems; electronic medical record systems; managed behavioral health care issues and insurance requirements/constraints.  Work requires interpersonal skills sufficient to communicate effectively with patients, families, internal staff, and outside agency personnel in providing evaluations, referrals, and in gathering and exchanging patient information; to manage staff; to communicate health system services to a variety of referrers and the general public.

Pay for this position is determined on a number of factors, including but not limited to, years and level of related experience.
